Harris-Courage, PLLC - Watertown Marina Smith: I am in a potential Chapter 13 situation and was advised by good lawyer friend to call this law firm, with understanding that even if they cant take my case they will be able to answer my questions and possibly steer me in a right direction. I looked this law firm up, read the reviews, so I felt a glimmer of hope. Called. Started asking a question and before I was able to finish my question, I was cut short and told that they cant help me because they only file new cases and dont work with cases that have already been filed. Informed that I can contact the attorney who had filed the case for both of us. I said that it was not an option for me. I had to repeat myself as that was suggested again. I tried to explain to the receptionist with "legal training" that I am looking to have a separate case and was wondering if someone could answer some of these very confusing and complex questions or steer me where to turn but she cut me short again and said that maybe I should just Google it and that an attorney wont have time for me to be answering questions. She also suggested that I could call the NY State Bar Association. I am not sure if my foreign accent played a role in response that I had received but it certainly left me wondering. I am not convinced that not actively listening to the end of the question or explanation, be it prospective or current client, another lawyer or a judge is a good practice. Disrespectful, condescending and demoralizing tone, "no time for your questions" attitude hardly qualifies as any star at all and does not reflect well on overall attitude and culture of the office. One star for answering the pone and suggesting to use Google and call NYS bar, because this foreign female had no idea she could do that. You enlightened me.Thank you.
