1 /5 Shannon Murphy: I had a very disappointing experience with this law office. After hiring them to handle some traffic tickets, they attempted to triple the cost the next day, claiming one ticket was more serious than initially thought. This led me to price shop and find a MUCH better option. However before hiring a SECOND lawyer I reached out to their office, letting them know I had found a better deal and asking if they would issue a refund, and they confirmed they would refund me on Monday.
Based on this, I hired another lawyer. However, on Monday, someone from their office called and said they would only refund half my money. When I explained why this wasn’t acceptable (their initial quote was incorrect, no services were rendered, and they had promised a full refund), I was told the lawyer would call me back after the holidays.
After I did not hear from them when promised I sent an EXTREMELY cordial email again explaining my position figuring there was no way they were going to feel that keeping half my money was appropriate. I got a response that they had already sent a check via mail for half the amount to my billing address (which by the way I currently don’t live in the country and couldn’t attend court - that was the only reason I needed a lawyer to begin with).
I run a business and do a large share of customer service. I understand needing to be wary of refunds as a practice. But with their refusal to refund - I see this now as more of a bait and switch situation. Especially since I was reassured that I would be getting a refund. It was an abuse of my time, my money, my respect, and so on. If they are willing to ignore doing the right thing in something that’s so cut and clear - I can only imagine that they do much worse in situations that are a bit more muddy.
What a shame.
