My husband and I love the program because it is about so much more than just the physical aspect of martial arts. The children learn respect, self-control, perseverance, flexibility, and gratitude. UMAC helps them to become better people overall who can be positive contributors to society. Master Mellela and the entire staff are all warm and welcoming from the moment you join. They truly are positive role models for all of their students.

Martial Arts alone is fantastic for personal development but UMAC takes it one step further by tapering their program to meet each childs individual needs. The staff is nurturing and kind and they take time to get to know each child and work with them to meet their goals. Highly recommended!

5 /5 Vickie Police: UMAC welcomed our family 6 months ago, but it feels like a lifetime!! Myself and two of my 3 children train there, and as soon as our youngest is old enough, he will, too! We range in age from 6 to 40, and UMAC makes all of us feel equally able. The instructors and staff go above and beyond to inspire and teach us, regardless of skill or fitness level. I didnt think I could until they showed me! Looking forward to many more years of training with UMAC!

5 /5 KatyLynn Huff: The staff at UMAC is amazing with the students! Our son has learned soo much about himself and has developed such a positive attitude because of all his wonderful instructors! He has made may friends and has soo many role models. He started in the Dragons program and is now a 1st degree black belt. We are very grateful for Master Malella and all the staff at UMAC, they really take the time with each student to help them develop both physically, mentally and emotionally! Our son attends the afterschool program, summer camp, is on the leadership team and trying for the demo team as well. UMACs instructors and students are our sons family. We couldnt be happier with our experience!!

Suraj Samaroo: This gym is really cool. As someone who is now working on getting fit, I’m often wondering if I’m doing anything correctly. YouTube helps. Most of the time I’m walking a treadmill lol. I reached out because they offer a free PT session with a body scan but haven’t heard back yet since I’ve gotten an email from their head trainer Quenten who said John will reach out, and it’s been 2 weeks. I’ll give them some more time because I know this offer is free, so patience. Overall their cafe is pretty cool. Staff are really friendly! The older gentleman who wears a shirt that says Trainer is very kind, always saying hi to everyone. The basketball courts is a great touch. Night time it does get booked out so if you wanna play ball, go early on in the day. I’ve never had an issue getting a ball for shoot around. They offer a parking pass, which is a great news because parking in that area is TERRIBLE. I’m patiently waiting for the call. Until then, let’s walk these treadmills.

Retro Fitness - Rego Park

Abiral Khadka: This is the “Mecca of Retro Fitness”. Everyone here is genuinely friendly and welcoming. I’ve been to most Retro Fitness locations in Queens including Astoria and Forest Hills as well as Commack and Ronkonkoma in Long Island and I can confidently say this is the best one so far.

24 Hour Fitness - Kew Gardens

Amy Hess: Today was a great day at 24 Hour Fitness in Kew Gardens. The Club had an amazing event to honor those who have made it through Breast Cancer and Domestic Violence as well as honoring the memory of those who are no longer with us. I love this gym and Hamida’s classes are amazing. Eneida at the front desk is amazing and great at all she does. Let’s not forget the Club Manager Italia who with the help of the Frontline Team members put all this together.

Chub Monk: This is going to be a bit embarrassing but when I first started personal strength training with Melissa, I could barely do a modified push-up. Now I can do full push-ups — at least eight! My massage therapist even noticed how much stronger I’ve gotten, saying my quads feel rock solid now. Totally unprompted! Ive also gone from doing squats with 30 lbs to 85 lbs in a few months. I’ve seen real progress in my strength and overall fitness since working with her. She’s also incredibly creative with her workouts so they’re never boring, and her contagious, positive energy always makes me look forward to our sessions. Despite her busy schedule, she also makes time to check in on my diet and gives encouraging reminders (and sometimes reality checks!) to stay consistent with clean eating, which keeps me accountable. Beyond the physical results, what I really love is how much she genuinely cares about her clients — not just physically, but mentally too. During tough moments in my life, she’s shared meditation and breathing tips that helped me calm down and refocus. She introduced me to yoga as well! Melissa really goes above and beyond for her clients and truly brings heart, skill, and energy to everything she does. I can honestly say she’s made a huge difference in both my fitness and mindset. I highly recommend her if you want a trainer who lifts you up inside and out!

Eugenia Ellsworth: I’ve supported many gyms in the past without ever attending regularly and then not attending at all. Having Zach as my trainer three times a week makes all the difference. The only time I miss a session is if I am out of town. He works me hard and I feel great after each visit!

Powerhouse Gym Long Island City - Long Island City

Gene Yu: One of my favorite gyms in Queens. Has a lot of great machines and the staff are really friendly. The locker room and bathroom are clean. Space is small, but you’ll get a good workout in. A day pass is $20 with card.

Baghi Cheeks: Just signed up at shape fitness yesterday for me and my daughter , saw the great reviews on google and yelp and decided to give it a try , paola and ray are so professional and passionate about what they do i knew we made the right choice . there was a group class going on and at the end all the women were so inviting and friendly and wished us good luck. I have to lose weight and am dealing with menopause as for my 27 year old daughter she need toning and weight loss. Not only was a weight management program included but the price was reasonable . I am very excited to be here and we are excited to see our goal in a few months , as first impressions ae concerned this place is amazing its like a mini spa on park avenue without the park avenue prices . If you are looking for an all womens fitness studio i would recommend this place Baghi

Andre Leith: Great gym! My favorite thing about this place is it is never crowded when I go, and I never have to wait for equipment (even for barbel squats and deadlifts). No lack of equipment, cost is really reasonable for me, theres no contracts, and staff is very nice. Would highly recommend for anyone in the neighborhood looking for a good gym that isnt crowded.

Faisal Ansari: I’ve been training at Impact Sports Club in Woodhaven for over a year now, and I can honestly say it’s one of the best fitness decisions I’ve ever made. The atmosphere is motivating, the equipment is top-notch, and the staff is always welcoming and professional. A special shoutout to Trainer Cam, who has been working with me consistently on strength training. His knowledge, patience, and ability to tailor workouts to my individual goals have made a huge difference in my progress. Cam pushes me just the right amount, ensures my form is always on point, and keeps every session challenging but enjoyable. If you’re serious about getting stronger, improving your overall fitness, or just looking for a supportive environment to train in, I can’t recommend Cam and Impact Sports Club enough. This place truly feels like a community that wants you to succeed.
