Katy Once in 2014, I was 18 and working summer staff at the nearby Evangelical resort CAMP-of-the-WOODS. I didn’t know any other Catholics there to take me to Mass, and I couldn’t drive, but I desperately missed being able to practice my faith. So, on my day off, I just decided to walk, convinced I eventually had to reach a Catholic church (the signal on my phone wasn’t good enough to look it up). It took me an hour-and-a-half, but I finally stumbled upon St. James. The front door was unlocked, but the church was completely empty, so I just sat in front of the Blessed Sacrament for a while. I had never felt so relieved or so loved by God in my entire life. As I began my long trek back to camp, I was comforted and renewed. I’m so grateful for this church.
