5 /5 Tom Garcia: Came here for a Saturday night dinner for two on a random fall evening. During the fall at least, I would definitely recommend a reservation, it was very busy around dinner time and without one we wound up waiting around for over an hour (which was the expectation they gave us). Since the weather was nice, we were at least able to enjoy waiting outside in the outdoor area they have on the side of the restaurant. Once we finally were sat, service was very friendly and pretty quick to boot. Ambiance felt very homey and I knew we were going to be in for a comfort food delight. We started off with the simple bread basket, but there really isnt much better than hot fresh bread as far as I am concerned, although I usually prefer when its complimentary, I cant complain that they at least kept it a fair price. For dinner I ordered the short rib stroganoff and my date got the single porkchop. Both were delicious, but if Im only picking one, I think mine was the real winner. Portions are generous and quality isnt lacking with the quantity either. We both really wanted to try their claim to fame of pies (both savory and sweet!) but we were too stuffed to have another bite. But that just gives us a reason to come back for more. That being said, they do even offer pies to go at a little hole in the wall right next to the main entrance in case you just want to grab and go, which I think is a great idea.
