Europa Cafe - Amsterdam (NY)

2 /5 Melissa P: This place was recommended by family. Hometown diner ambience. Ordered open faced turkey sandwich and several minutes after ordering, was notified that their turkey wasn’t thawed and did I want turkey lunch meat instead. Refused that offer and ordered a philly cheesesteak sandwich. Strangely enough, it arrived on a round bun, not a hoagie roll, but it tasted alright. The macaroni salad that I ordered as a side arrived with tuna in it. The menu didn’t state tuna would be in the salad and the waitress didn’t mention it either. (take note, vegetarian friends). I did not eat it, as I strongly dislike tuna. Overall, as a whole I would give it 2-3 stars. Much better eateries in the area.

5 /5 Paul Klem: Europa is a great eating establishment for dining with friends or family. I’m a regular for breakfast and occasionally for lunch. You will always receive great delicious generous portions of food at a great price. The waitresses are the best, always bringing your selections with a smile and constantly checking on your needs. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming allowing you to dine and converse freely. It can get busy at peak hours but the wait isn’t too long. This is a great choice whether you are local or like to travel for good food.

5 /5 iMacOfDeath: The true Amsterdam diner. Stopped in for breakfast after the 4th of July, luckily the crowd wasnt overwhelming. Do note that this establishment only accepts cash, or if the sign on the door is to be believed, and Apple Pay. They do have an ATM on site in case you forget this and fail to read the sign, but it does help weed out the randos who want to just waltz in. Ordered the Belgian Waffle with fruit and whipped cream, two eggs with bacon, and a decaf coffee. Took about five minutes and my meal was out. The waffle looked fantastic, lots of fresh fruit, a small round of butter, several dollops of whipped cream and my own jar of syrup. The eggs were cooked just right, not burnt even a tiny bit, and the bacon was very interesting. Unlike your regular straight bacon you may be served, it was more of a birds nest of bacon. Crispy on the outside with just a tiny bit of a chewy center, and the flavor was phenomenal. Wonderfully fatty, but not greasy. My total only came to a bit over $16, which is a pretty gosh darn good price for my meal. The service was very good, with my waitress checking in on me regularly to make sure I had everything I needed and was enjoying my meal. I sat at the bar which added an even more authentic diner feel to this cafe, though they had plenty of tables and booths open. I could absolutely see myself coming back here in the future on another day off, as their breakfast menu had plenty of other options to pick from.

5 /5 Jim Jurista: What a perfect little diner. Exactly what I want from an independent small place. I ordered eggs over easy and a side of corned beef hash. The waitress immediately asked if I wanted the eggs on top of the hash. Well, of course! But nobody ever asks that and it was awesome. Hot sauce, ketchup, and jelly were already on the table so no need to ask. Coffee was fresh and delicious and refilled often. Everything was done quickly and perfectly. I had never been here before but I will definitely be back.
