Ling Ling Chinese Restaurant - Newark (NY)

1 /5 Joe Skaria: I’ve ordered from many Chinese restaurants, but unfortunately, this one was a disappointment for me. The chicken and broccoli had very little flavor and mostly tasted like oil. I also ordered Hunan chicken but received something else instead. I decided to give this place a try after work and took my order home, which is about an hour away. It was really disappointing to come home and not enjoy the meal. I normally don’t leave negative reviews, but based on my personal experience, this visit just wasn’t a good one.

2 /5 Joshua Griffin: First, but last time here. I hate to leave a bad review, but I chose this place because reviews were better than elsewhere. Lunch time, I was the only customer. Bourbon chicken was unlike Ive ever seen. Every ingredient was huge, soaking in a liquid broth, but the chicken was still dry. "Crispy honey chicken" is battered chicken with a separate sauce. The sauce taste like corn syrup and vegetable oil, the chicken was better plain. The fried dumplings were small, but they were good. However the cheap plastic sauce container was broken on the bottom, so every dumpling had been soaking in the sauce. (At least they taste good). Fried rice is good, lo mein was bland and dry. I cant recommend, and I wont return...

1 /5 kimberly shear: Ordered General Tso’s chicken, Crab Rangoon, and egg rolls, very disappointed in the quality of the food. The egg rolls were so dark and crispy the cabbage inside was so mushy, very Inedible. Everything was over cooked. When I called to complain she laughed about it. Never will I ever give them my business.

2 /5 Morgan Donohue: We have been going to Ling Lings since we moved to the area in December 2024. When we first moved, we thought we found the best Chinese between Ontario and wayne counties. The last few times we got it, it seemed like the quality was diminishing. Last night we purchased 3 combo meals (chic/broccoli w rice, beef w mushrooms w rice and kungpao with lomein). The sauces were flavorless and watery, vegetables were crunchy/raw, meat was tough or tasted off, the lomein tasted badly of smoke. Its a shame, as we were avid supporters of this restaurant for almost a year but will likely not return due to the consistent lowered quality.
