06-2025 Bausch & Lomb Riverside Park in Hight rate 9 location for tourist in Rochester, NY (part 3)Saint Kateri National Shrine and Historic Site - Fonda Nathan June: Open to the public, its a nice stop off as you explore the area. This is considered a sacred site so be respectful of traditions, such as pilgrims doing the stations of the cross, going to Mass, or offering prayers & lighting candles (there is a building specifically for this). There is a gift shop there as well that sells various religious items & other gifts. I would recommend checking it out & walking the grounds up to the site of the Haudenosaunee village where St. Kateri was from.
Adirondack Animal Land - Gloversville Kelly Miller: A friend told us about this . 15 members of the family all went and everyone had a great time . We did a walk through the little village, fed some of the animals , visited with Santa , had a snack at the cafe, then drove through the area filled with Christmas light displays.
One thing to note : It’s cash only. There is an ATM machine in the gift shop .
Mineola Memorial Park - Mineola Jessica Abela: We attended the holiday festival. The schedule looked good in terms of kids activities. We went on the last day an hour before closing, so not much was going on. If the holiday festival comes back next year, I would advise checking the events calendar.
Old Westbury Gardens - Old Westbury Peter Pranata: Beautiful early 1900s mansion with a huge garden consisting of rose garden, private pool, and other landscapes. They also have a small cafe near the main house that serves sandwiches and drinks if youre hungry. Perfect summer getaway not too far from the city!
Can You Escape? LI - Mineola Pam: My sister was visiting from out of town and we decided to come here. It was our 1st experience at an escape room. We were totally clueless what we were walking into. We had a blast. It was so much fun. We did not escape but we had a great time working together as a team. The staff member that was working was so helpful to us and went out of her way to help us and make it a great experience. Would definitely come back again!
Long Island Childrens Museum - Garden City Tita Friday PH: The Long Island Children’s Museum is a fantastic place to take kids for a fun and educational day out. The exhibits are colorful, interactive, and designed to keep little ones engaged, whether they’re playing with bubbles, exploring the musical wall, or checking out the themed displays. The museum has a great balance of hands-on activities and creative spaces, and the staff is friendly and helpful.
It’s a clean and well-maintained space, and the variety of activities means there’s something for every age. The gift shop is also a nice touch, offering unique and educational toys. It can get a bit busy on weekends, so arriving early is a good idea. Overall, it’s a wonderful spot for families to learn, play, and spend quality time together.
Rockefeller Center - New York J: Visiting the Rockefeller Center was a fantastic experience! I highly recommend making an online reservation for your ticket in advance—it really streamlines the process and helps you skip unnecessary wait times.
The visit begins with a brief but informative four-minute video that provides a great overview of the Rockefeller Center’s history and its significance in New York City.
Once you head up to the observation deck, the views are simply stunning. You get an incredible panoramic view of the city, including the Empire State Building, the Hudson River, and Central Park. It’s truly a must-see whether youre visiting NYC for the first time or returning.
Highly recommended for anyone looking to take in the city from above and learn a little history along the way!
The High Line - Jonas V.: Absolutely love the High Line. It’s an amazing place to escape the buzzing city for a while and enjoy a stroll through the green while having great views of the city. There are cool events, art projects, and chill seating areas as well. It’s free and there for everyone. Really happy this staple of NYC history exists and highly recommend to come by and support it!
