It is a cool collection, and one of the two special exhibitions happening while we were there was fantastic (the other would be fantastic for fans of the featured artists, which we were not). We visited on a recommendation and I feel like I would pass the recommendation along, with minor caveats. Overall a positive experience, well curated collections, and a beautiful building.

Hyde Hall - Cooperstown Cindra Materia: Been waiting for decades for this to open to the public. Great tour on Memorial Day 2025 with Randy. Such a special place by Glimmerglass State Park. You’ve can join the friends of Hyde Hall to support restoration.
National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum - Cooperstown Michael Hahn: A wonderful collection of memorabilia, artifacts, and stories about Americas favorite past time. The staff was very courteous. Gift shop prices are reasonable. The introduction movie had technical difficulties but it was addressed by the great staff through announcements and troubleshooting. We returned at the next scheduled showing (one hour later) and the film was well worth the wait. Really enjoyed the women of baseball exhibit and the section about the history of collectible cards.
Fairy Springs Park - Cooperstown NadiaNoble2012: Cute spot to enjoy some swimming. Love the diving board, and that there were lifeguards. Very narrow sitting area at the waterfront, but the chairs were great to sit in.
Putnam County Veterans Memorial Park - Jacqueline Unger-Sprague: What a beautiful park! Ive been coming here since I was a little girl and it has always been clean and the grounds are well maintained. The lake wasnt open (off season). Theres a playground, trail, dock, picnic tables, electrical outlets and barbecues, bathrooms and plenty of space to host parties. My family and I stopped there last Friday and we were the only ones there. It costs $8 per vehicle to visit. Their current hours are 10am-3:30pm.
Fred Dill Wildlife Sanctuary - Carmel Hamlet Alicia Gonzalez: Fred Dills Wild Life Sanctuary is a quiet wooded area close to downtown Carmel with easy trails winding around a pretty section of woods. I like walking there because it’s nearby and it’s a way to escape into the woods and enjoy nature.
Today we went for a springtime walk. The parking area is small and as you first walk in you go through a marshy area filled with pussy willows and dense reeds and a few old apple trees. There are lots of native plants to see.. All along the walkway were spotted yellow toad lilies , bright green skunk, cabbage, and blood root. I heard a barred owl, a red shoulder, hawk, a Pileated woodpecker and other birds. There are tall, beautiful trees throughout the sanctuary, and two massive oak trees. One of them Is almost 300 years old! The trail Is well kept and surprisingly peaceful and quiet. I think it’s a lovely little place to enjoy a quiet walk in the woods and experience the sights and sounds of nature. I am grateful to Fred Dill for sharing it with everyone!
