Mini Plexiglass Waterfall Tunnel - New York
Mini Plexiglass Waterfall Tunnel
H. S.: Worth the 5 min to pass through to.enhoy the large unique brass sculptures if youre already in the area. The sound of the water is soothing. Nice little tunnel passage. Didnt really see many shaded seating spots.
One World Trade Center - New York
One World Trade Center
Jim Nouwens: Also a nice viewpoint and from a completely different angle than top of the rock and summit. There is only one disadvantage taking pictures is very difficult because of the very reflective windows, especially in places where the sun shines in. That was a bit of a shame. but otherwise a nice view. And it has a super cool elevator. A selfie stick was not allowed inside, we had to hand it in at security and then pick it up again when we came down. No problem of course. You also have to reserve a time slot when buying the tickets at the machine.
Catacombs by Candlelight - New York
Catacombs by Candlelight
Shruti Go: Amazing experience!! The Catacombs tour was fascinating! Walking through the underground burial chambers beneath St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral gave me a real sense of NYC history and culture. The guide was knowledgeable and made the stories come alive. The candlelight setting added a mysterious and intimate atmosphere. Highly recommend for history buffs and anyone looking for something different in NYC.
Hernshead - New York
Hernshead
El Mike: I like that many people dont come here, so many times its empty and theres no noise. A Central Park hidden gem with scenic views of the lake
Berlin Wall - New York
Berlin Wall
Chances R: I was working right in back of it so I seen it every day, I didnt even know its was a major thing. Not sure if it was moved for the construction going on in the area, I will guess its so because its placed in a corner next to a building I think its in a weird location if its permanent.
Museum of the City of New York - New York
Museum of the City of New York
BellaDuessa: Had a wonderful time visiting this museum, very nice, clean and well taken care, very informative. The civil rights movement, has a whole floor dedicated to that. This museum is a place to visit more than once, the Media Room alone, would be awesome to come back to and watch all the clips of the classic movies all playing at once, but synchronized!
The Museum of Interesting Things (advance appt only) - New York
The Museum of Interesting Things (advance appt only)
marissa vergnetti: I was looking for something different to do with my young adult boys during a meet up in NYC and thought we would try The Museum of Interesting Things! It turned out to be less of a typical "museum" and more of an authentic NYC experience! I easily connected via email with the amazing host and historian extraordinaire, Denny and secured an appointment time. Upon entering, I knew we were in for a special treat. Denny presented us with many different objects from the 19th and 20th centuries, many related to film, sound and photography accompanied by the historical background and a chance to try out the objects ourselves! Denny is knowledgeable and personable, with a delightfully quirky sense of humor. If you are interested in going back in time, or a nostalgic trip down memory lane, dont miss this! My only regret is that we didnt have enough time to go through each item in his apartment! I saw some gems hiding in there!
Balto Statue - New York
Balto Statue
Robbie Palmer: I proposed to my partner here. It’s a beautiful statue tribute we stumbled across in Central Park. As animal lovers we absolutely love it here, a calming touching tribute to a very brave dog.
The James - New York
The James
Joe Ahearn: I came to James with an incomprehensible riddle—a mystery that had plagued my family for generations. Although the price was steep, the detective assigned to my case got to work immediately. While the mystery is far from over, I’m quite confident that we’re on the way to unraveling this knot.
Shakespeare Garden - New York
Shakespeare Garden
Rachelle Carnes: Serene spot in Central Park, and a perfect space to recharge and enjoy some (unexpected) birdsong in the middle of the city. I appreciated how much shade there was in this area, and it was very fun to search out the Shakespeare placards hidden in the flowers. So pleased this is freely available as well! If youre visiting the New York Historical Society or the American Museum of Natural History, you should visit the Shakespeare Garden too - its right next door!
