1 /5 Grace Y: Choosing this school for my child was a decision I regret immensely to this day. Initially, knowing it was a Catholic school, I presumed that the teachers would be kind to students since they are followers of Christ, and as Christians we aim to follow Jesus’ example in everything we do. However, our experience turned out to be the opposite. As new immigrants to the United States, my child had troubles understanding the teachers instructions and rules due to language barriers. In such situations, I humbly believe that a good teacher would provide more care and assistance to the child.
Nevertheless, my child came home almost every day with notes and “complaints” from Ms. Delaney. All my child felt was continuous rejection and non-acceptance from his teacher. This incident has affected my child to this day, and he still feels very uncomfortable every time we need to walk pass by the school.
I understand that some people might think that it was the childs issue, but at the next school my child attended, his teachers did not find any issue with him. Regarding the former school he attended, some of my friends even saw it as racial discrimination. But I do not want to make any assumptions, so this question can only be answered by Ms. Delaney.
It was just unfortunate and heartbreaking that my child encountered a teacher like this. I did not see a single bit of Christ-like qualities in her. However, I do want to acknowledge that she does not represent the entire school; I am simply regretful that I made this wrong decision for my child.
