Saratoga National Historical Park - Stillwater (NY)

5 /5 John Kettlewell: Wonderful walks with interesting history to read about along the way. Plus the drive around the park is nice if you dont want to walk, and its a nice bike ride too. Good dog walking as well. Beautiful views out over the Hudson River valley.

5 /5 Amanda Banta: Great experience for all ages. My family did the auto tour and stopped at most of the 10 spots. We did the tour in about an hour. There are gorgeous views from hilltops at some of them and worth the trip even if you’re not interested in the history. The staff inside the visitor center was friendly and knowledgeable. We stopped in early one morning and had a lovely conversation with a gentleman who clearly knows his Saratoga stuff. Don’t skip on the 20 minute film; it gives you a lot of the info you want in order to appreciate the grounds and tour.

4 /5 Jay Reynolds: Despite only one of the trails being open due to the time of year we visited, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our hike here. We did the 4 mile loop, which offers an audio "tour" of the Saratoga Battlefield at various outposts. This is an unpaved trail across the grounds and I highly recommend proper footwear. I look forward to returning during a season in which more of the grounds are accessible.

5 /5 Kate Jasper: Great historical park. If you enjoy walking or biking, there are tons of trails throughout the park to enjoy. We were hauling our camper and we were able to drive the Saratoga National Battlefield Road with it. There were places to pull off and take photos, walk the trails to the different monuments, and a beautiful location that overlooked the river. Parking can be limited when it is busy, and unless you are handicapped, you have to walk up quite a few stairs to get to the visitors center.

5 /5 Hoosieronthemove: I visited here with my friend and am beyond impressed with all the new plaques along the trail. They’re raised and there is braille so they’re way more inclusive than most places have, and it makes me so happy that this was updated this way. I’ve been to many a battlefield, but the views at Saratoga in some places are pretty breathtaking. I definitely recommend carving out a half hour at least for the gift shop too, they’ve got some fun national parks stuff.
