Saunders Finger Lakes Museum - Branchport Tilly Lo: 20250519 Nice park. I didnt find much to do, but I didnt explore the entire property. There is a boat ramp, children story book garden and playground, and a museum. Looks like they are building a bigger museum.
Prejean Winery - Penn Yan M. Klein: We had not been to Prejean before, but had driven by a half dozen times. The name of the winery is taken from the owners last name. The guy working there was enjoyable to chat with and he knew a lot about the facility, wines, etc.
We did enjoy some more than others, noting the dry Riesling was our favorite and grabbed a bottle to go. The facility itself is somewhat dated, primarily because they have been in business for decades. It could use some updates to keep current.
Finger Lakes Rail Riders - Penn Yan Danita Roberts: Im so glad we did this! The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and informative. I enjoyed learning the history of the area. The ride was peaceful and relaxing. We had perfect weather (which I realize they have no control over). The most exciting thing for me was when we saw a little fawn in the grasses next to the tracks. I definitely recommend this for everyone from a couple to a family to a group.
Keuka Lake State Park - Keuka Park Tilly Lo: This is a beautiful park on Keuka Lake. It has boat ramp, parking for overnight, playground, volleyball court, trails for hiking. The water is blue green. Very pretty. The road ended with a road block. There is no vehicle entrance free.
The Windmill Farm & Craft Market - Penn Yan Kimberly LaFrance: Windmill Farms in Penn Yan, Ny is such a cool place to visit. The drive there is beautiful and scenic getting you away from the chaos. The place itself is a cross between craft market, flea market, farm stands, and more, where you can find everything from housewares, pet supplies, Amish baked goods, produce, kitchen staples and cooking/baking supplies, hard to find items, flowers/plants, pickled everything and jerky of every kind. Atvs, clothing, footwear, hot tubs, tools... you name it! Theres soo many fabulous food stands to choose from as well, with choices you cant find anywhere else (we got the Dubai fruit bowls). Live music some days is a bonus! Separate buildings housing bathrooms. Indoor and outdoor dining spaces. After leaving, theres a fabulous Amisg store up the road!
Red Tail Ridge Winery - Penn Yan Becky I: The hosts/servers were lovely! They also had live music- it was a little loud, but it was still good music. The wine was good. The inside of the tasting room was pretty and their outdoor area looked beautiful!
Phyletic Museum - 07743 Jena Dr. Aditya J. Basak: Historically tied to Ernst Haeckel who is considered the father of ecology. They have a wonderful collection of specimens preserved in amber. The amber collection has boards describing them in both German and English. However the rest of the
collections only have German labels. The specimens and models are beautifully curated in an informative manner. May be the ticket prices could have been slightly lower considering how small the museum actually is. Overall an enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours in Jena.
