1 /5 Kristen Dean: Where do I begin? When I arrived the lady at the desk was very nice, she checked me in and I didn’t have to wait long to be called back.
Before I could sit in the chair, a dental assistant from another room was calling the assistant who was seating me, over to her chair. She reminded her of the charges for today’s visit and that I needed to confirm that I knew about the price (which I did and it was fine).
I sat in my chair and the assistant was answering my questions, Dr. Sammi came into the room. He said hello and began to lean my chair back.
This is where things get strange and uncomfortable for me. Dr. Sammi laid my chair all the way back so far that my head was lower than my body which was not comfortable. Then he looked in my mouth and seemed confused so he turned to his computer screen. He wasn’t sure which tooth he was going to be working on and the assistant from the other room came over to help him. Long story short, We confirmed the details of today’s visit and he turned back around to look in my mouth again. Without explaining anything he reached behind him and grabbed the needle! No numbing gel on a qtip or even a “little pinch” warning. NOTHING. Immediately after that Dr. Sammi grabbed some sort of long metal tool and mallet, said this is going to be a bit loud and began tapping away (what felt pretty aggressively) on my crown he was removing. I stopped him! I asked what he was doing and he said he had to get the old crown off. I told him that was not how the process was explained to me and that I was told they would use a saw type tool to cut the crown in half and peel it away gently to protect the tooth underneath. He said oh no, that would take too long. I said I am not comfortable with this at, I will go elsewhere.
Now, I’m not a complainer and had it not been so quick, cold, and aggressive , I may have actually tolerated that removal process but this Dr. clearly didn’t care to explain the process or ask how I was feeling or anything!
As I sat in my car crying he came out to his car which was right next to mine. He hopped in and flew out of the parking lot. It seemed as though he clearly had somewhere to be other than at that office today.
Wilson Dental doesn’t have a bad reputation to begin with but I had a good experience in the Waverly office so I thought maybe it would be okay. I was very wrong and I will never go back! I highly recommend anyone getting dental work done to find another office that’s in network or to do as I am and pay for good service out of network.
