1 /5 Catherine Stone: I was in Fibers today with my son browsing. One of the women who makes silk scarf shirts was showing me this shirt. There was another customer in the store with a shirt in her arm. As the shopkeeper was speaking to me, she turned and told the other woman the shirt she has won’t fit her because it’s too small for her. I felt the other woman was stunned and shocked and I was, too, but the shopkeeper made a comment about not everyone having the ability to be able to see themselves accurately, the other woman said she would grab her things and leave and she did, she was visibly hurt and this shopkeeper didn’t even apologize or seem to care that she hurt another person. She then continued to try and sell me this shirt, but I left.
How this shopkeeper treated this potential customer was wrong. The other customer was a similar size to me and the shopkeeper was not trying to talk me out of buying a shirt that didn’t fit, so it was really uncalled for that she said anything to this other potential customer, and especially in such an unkind way. The only difference between me and the other customer was our skin color and I believe the shopkeeper was being racist as well as fat phobic.
Therefore I do not recommend this business.
