Juanita Gamarra The ladies over there are very nice and professional, all time I go there make feel welcome and special. They offer me coffee, wine or any drink I want. Miguelina, the hairdresser, even gets me breakfast when I come very early. I recommend them to anyone who wants to prettier and fabulous.

Ashley Roca My sister wanted a light lavender color, showing them the professional photo. Instead she got the red velvety-purple color that is obviously messy. When she showed them the picture, they said they didnt like the color so I guess they decided to do whatever they wanted to her hair. She told them constantly she wanted a lavender purple and told her that she needed to be positive of the outcome and told her that she got the color she asked for. If you dont know how to do hair, dont do it period.

Tori-ann Holness Typical Dominican salon. If you are a Black woman with permed hair this is a good spot especially if you are on a budget. I requested the the wash and set. When I got there I told them that I needed to be back at work in an hour, so they washed my hair, set it in rollers, sat under the dryer for about 30mins then they blow dried it. It was $25 for me because my hair is medium length. (She charges based on length). The only issue that I had was when The lady got finished washing my hair I sat under the sink for about 25min because I thought she left and was going to come back. Finally another lady came and got me and I told her the other lady did not communicate that she actually finished washing my hair. I was not to happy about that.

Kiki J I loved Maggie and the way my nails came out from the day I first went to the salon, but I waited until AFTER my vacation to leave this review! My appointment was a long one and Maggie was gentle, personable, and funny throughout! She genuinely didnt want to do anything that might have been damaging to my nails despite the fact that it might cost more and made sure to explain herself clearly. My nails came out beautifully, especially the shaping. And, for nearly 3 weeks, they havent started lifting, peeling, scratching or anything of the sort. Even the rhinestones are still going strong! Thank you Maggie!! Ill be back

Lolita Short Absolutely love this salon! Its cute and clean with good vibes. Resey has been maintaining my locs for the past few months and I cant see myself letting anyone else do my hair. She works fast, keeps my grid neat and you can tell she cares about her clients hair health. Both Maggie and Resey are absolute sweethearts and are very professional, and help make each experience lovely.

They only accept cash, not everyone walks around with bills on them, and not everyone wants to be charged for taking money off their card when they could just pay through the card. 2. If the owner isnt there, the other hair stylists tend to be very rude, try to overcharge, and if they think you dont understand Spanish, they say some of the most ignorant shit. 3. They prefer to work with straight hair, so be prepared for funny looks or to be charged extra if you have natural type 3/4 hair.

Yarielys Fernandez I have been doing my hair with Betty since I was in grade school. My mom had always gone to her and so I always went as well. She has had many salons and anywhere she has gone I have always taken time to travel to her because she’s that GREAT at her job. She has done everything to my hair from trims to regular blow outs to blonde highlights to touch ups and more. She is great at doing hair. I have curly hair and she NEVER has to pass the flat iron after my blow out. In addition to that, the times that I have dyed my hair with her she has always taken my curls into consideration and she has applied treatments free of cost. (She knows I love to rock my natural curls). Overall, she’s extremely mindful and considerate! She’s amazing at her job. I am now 22 years old and again I’ve been seeing her since i was in grade school so since I was like 10 years old, I used to go with my mom. Literally since before she had her own salon, just when she was doing hair from her apartment. I’ve always loved her and I always will. Best believe my future children will also be going to her.

Amihan Ruiz So happy! I walked in on a Saturday afternoon and the place was poppin! The señora who talked to me was so nice, told to come at 10am the next day. I did, and Caridad did my hair. She consulted me every step and listened to my concerns. Even if my Spanish was broken, other ladies stepped in to work thru the language barrier. The final look is so fun, I was so relieved. My nail technician, did an amazing job on my gel pedicure and my full set. The attention to detail was impressive, and my nails look fantastic. Jayme Overton Shalom beauty bar is amazing! They have a great staff, amazing services, and great prices! I’ve been to get a pedicure and manicure and both turned out so good. I went in asking for a “fall rainbow” and the manicurist even mixed together different colors to make sure it was a color I liked! 10/10 recommend :)

Liz D Never again coming here! I wanted curtain bangs and my hair was botched! Im actually too embarrassed to even show a picture on here but I’ve contacted my bank to make them aware of this. Also, everytime you go they will tell you that the machine to pay is out of order so they charge an extra two dollars to pay with cc. I so wanted to put $$ back into the small businesses/community but will not allow to be played with like this! 11/19 update: finally have the courage to update with a photo & doing this in response to owners reply. Thank you for extending an invite to visit again, unfortunately I will never step foot inside this place again. Please take a look at my photo. Does this look like CURTAIN BANGS? Your hair dresser completely ruined my hair. I wanted to give back to my small business and community but not at the cost of my own well-being and mental state. Will not return & will continue to spread the word not to come here.

She makes a perfect hair blowout. She is very attentive. The owner of the salon is welcoming, and creates a comfortable and enjoyable experience. The salon is very clean, with modern decor and great ambiance. Great salon in the community of the upper Manhattan/Inwood neighborhoods. Highly recommend.

Stephanie Very upset . Today is my birthday , I went in for just a wash and blow dry. Nothing big . I left with something I could have done at home. I have very thin fine hair. She recommended things I can try , no issue there. The issue is this huge burn spot on the side of my head that is really hurting me and that’s oozing out. Will not return. Waste of money.

Goddess2Venus My oldest daughter is 23 and Vanessa took care of my hair back then, now almost 16 years later her staff Magdalena (who is wonderful at doing hair and so sweet)is taking care of my 8yr olds hair. I recently had a stroke and my daughters hair is super thick, I took her to get braids then I had to wait for her sis or someone to take them out.I cant because my right hand is disabled because of the stroke. her hair was growing but those edges were thinning out Chile not Cute!!! So I decided what was best for my child was a mild childrens relaxer and deep conditions. Im able to wrap her hair nicely every night and she loves getting a wash & set every 2-3 weeks. This may not be for you but its old school working wonders for her hair. BTW my daughter loves her hair, she hated those pretty braids which was torture on her getting them put it & take out. Im sooo greatly appreciative Vanessa is still open to help me care for my babys hair. Thank you guys so much, I love you Yvonne & Yasmin xoxoxo

Murda Brim I use to love them when I use to get my hair done by them years ago. I took my 9yr old there who has really thick coiled hair. All I asked for her was a hot oil treatment, with blow and flat iron. Fast forward a week when its time for me to wash her hair. Soon as I wet it you can smell the chemicals oozing out her hair. It smelled like straight perm! Mind you her hair is naturally coiled up. My babys poor natural curls are gone. Her hair is super straight smh. Never again will we go back! I called and spoke with the husband and said yall put perm in the shampoo. Of course he denied it and told me bring her in. Im not traveling damn near 2hrs just for them to lie and deny in my face!

Grace Bounds If you need a wax, ask for Farida. (She does not work on Tuesdays) She was professional, efficient and thorough. She got me in and out without an appointment. Very friendly and kind. Everything was clean and fresh, I will be back. So if you need a wax go over and check her out. This is not a paid or compensated review, I just think that the small businesses in our area thrive on quality reviews from members of the community.

There are three barbers and three hair techs stylist beauticians who always manage to make everyone look amazing. Whether you want a hair cut, color, highlights, ombre, deep conditioning, hair extensions, or a simple wash and set. Theres is also now a tech for Mani and Pedi who also does acrylic and gel service you gotta come to try out of the services.
