1 /5 Rachel Clifford: This is the worst bank branch I have ever been a customer of. This past weekend my family drove the hour round trip to NBT Bank in Canton to withdraw $520 from the account there. After my husband inserted his debit card the machine glitched up and said it was out of service and spit his card back out and he recieved no money which he really needed. Then today (Monday) I noticed a -520 pending charge for a withdrawal so I called the bank thinking it would be fairly simple since there is a camera right on the atm. The branch manager told me that there is nothing she could do until Wednesday when they balance the atm. We are a 6 person household living off of one income which already makes it difficult, luckily we do have a bit of a cushion. Still I feel like this amount of money would break most families like ours especially in this economy not to mention during a global pandemic. How hard would it have been for this bank to simply balance the ATM sooner, give us back our money until they figured out THEIR mistake, or even look at the camera on it seeing we received no money. Not these people because they simply do not care one bit about their customers or the hardships they will face due to an error caused by NBTs ATM. This is not the first time we have lost hundreds of dollars inspite of it being "safely" in an NBT account so be careful because if it happens to you or your family there will likely be no assistance for you.
