1 /5 Melissa Lauprete: It’s hard to understand how this agency has such a high rating. After switching from a NYC-area agent to support a local business, we encountered repeated mistakes, poor communication, and a complete lack of accountability.
We bundled home, auto, renters, and business policies with them. The business insurance was mishandled due to a clear lack of knowledge and experience, ultimately forcing us to switch agencies. The auto policy was also problematic—what should have been a simple transfer for a new car became a drawn-out ordeal, with our agent refusing to send standard paperwork to the dealership, then sending a series of erroneous documentation, delaying the process.
Most concerning, they allowed a critical portion of our policy to lapse during an active construction project without notifying us—despite having made this same mistake before, the previous year, and ensuring it wouldn’t happen again. When we tried to explain the urgency and important of this, we were met with extreme dismissal and minimization. This, though important, was also one small portion, in an erroneous policy overall. They insured us under an incorrect policy for our build, which could have potentially cost us everything.
While it’s possible the agency has more capable agents, there was no effort to place us with someone better suited or more experienced. They force you to continue working with the person that made the mistakes. Despite these repeated issues, we never received a call from management to acknowledge or address the gaps, errors, or breakdowns in service to help bridge the gap. Instead, concerns were met with defensiveness and, at times, a subtle but unmistakable air of patriarchal judgment, throughout anyone we tried to speak to at the agency.
Their consistent refusal to take responsibility is alarming. Instead of fixing issues, they deflect, deny, or suggest going elsewhere. It feels like their policy is to doubt the client, judge the client, avoid accountability, and dismiss the stress and real life implications their errors cause.
We’ve worked with many agents over the years and have never had such a frustrating, time-consuming experience. Insurance should be simple—especially when you’ve never filed a claim. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere for your insurance needs.
