1 /5 Victoria Lacagnina: Last month my boyfriend and I ate here for a quick dinner since we were in town for some business. The reviews were promising, but none of them warned us about three key issues he and I had major problems with.
Ill start with noting that the anesthetics of this place arent particularly appealing. It has the appearance and atmosphere of an old diner/dinner-hall with dated chairs. When we arrived it was after 6pm on a Monday and the place was pretty much empty with the exception of two people occupying the main dining area and one or two patrons at the bar. We were seated almost immediately.
He and I ordered burgers and fries. The food was excellent, no complaints there, and our waitress for the most part was fine...until she asked my boyfriend if he wanted a refill on his soda and he agreed. And then we got the bill soon after.
This was where the issues cropped up. He and I were shocked and irritated to see the surplus of charges on there.
This place charged us not only for our meal, but they tacked on an extra charge for using a card to pay AND a bar charge as well - and neither of us even used the bar!
The icing on the cake was the charge for his refill. Now I already think its ridiculous for places to charge for soda refills, but what I despise most of all is when business dont even warn you or tell you about it until you are looking at the charge on your bill. The cost was ridiculous as well. Our waitress completely neglected to inform us the refills werent free when she offered it and I hate when waiters do that.
We made sure to deduct the cost of that refill from her tip.
That, on top of the two extra ridiculous charges immediately made our decision to not come back next time we eat in johnstown. Ive never seen any restaurant do that before for their billing, and Ive eaten at a good amount in different places. They dont even have the decency to warn you about them.
Save yourself the extra expense. Dont eat here. Its not worth it.
