5 /5 Barbi V.: Phoenicia Diner is a cozy, homey spot that instantly makes you feel welcome. The space is beautifully decorated for the holidays, giving it a festive, comforting vibe, and the staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely kind.
The food overall was solid, though a bit mixed. The eggs and sausage were flavorful and well done, while the pancakes were good but not particularly memorable. The juices are advertised as freshly squeezed, but they tasted more like concentrate than fresh, which was a little disappointing.
That said, my breakfast special was exceptional. The seasonal turkey with fennel, fried Brussels sprouts, Phoenicia potatoes, and eggs was standout and absolutely worth ordering. It felt thoughtful, hearty, and satisfying, especially on a chilly fall/winter day.
Despite a few misses, this is a welcoming, family-friendly spot in a great Catskills location. I’d definitely return with the kids for the atmosphere, comfort, and friendly service alone — and I’d happily order the specials again.
