1 /5 J M: The braces themselves were well done, but my experience here was traumatic for me.
I had taken excellent care of my teeth, but 15months into having braces, I went to a boarding school. It was an abusive place that forced extreme sleep deprivation onto us, and my teeth were heavily damaged as a result.
I dont remember which doctor I saw at this practice to remove my braces-- it was either Dr. Dan or Dr. Hession-- but he was cruel to me. He treated me with disgust and distain.
He also placed a permanent retainer behind my front teeth without asking permission:
He said "you had a gap?"
I said "yes"
He said "and you dont ever want it back?"
And I said "Id prefer not"
He had me lean back. I asked him what he was doing, but he wouldnt tell me until after he was finished. He had cemented a chain behind my front teeth. When I saw this, I immediately told him to remove it. He would not. I begged him. He would not.
It was placed in a way that prevented me from flossing (even my dentist couldnt manage to get floss in there). It started causing erosion between my front incisors-- only after it caused significant damage did the doctor at this practice remove the retainer. I felt very violated and hurt by this ordeal.
They also failed to remove much of the cement from my braces. I guess they felt I didnt matter enough.
A few years later a periodontist removed it for me.
Overall, this was a traumatic experience. The damage to my teeth from boarding school was hard enough on me, but the utter disregard that I was treated with here really stung, and was deeply unprofessional.
For this reason, I cannot recommend this practice.
