4 /5 Frank Giambalvo: The Esopus Meadows light house was built in 1871 to warn mariners of the mud flats known as the Esopus Meadows. Aboard the Hudson River Cruise ship (Rip Van Winkle) we were able to get very close to this landmark which was very enjoyable. Reminded me of touring on the Rhine River in Germany and seeing all of the castles on Islands and shoreline cliffs.

4 /5 Bill Lozano: One of the few lighthouses in the Hudson River. Its listed on the National Register of Historic Places. About twice a year they offer tours of the lighthouse. You can always boat or kayak round it.

Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome - Red Hook

Robert Pugliese: Love this place! Where else can you see WWI era planes actually fly? The people are so nice. Great amenities and food. You can even fly in an open cockpit biplane. Fun for airplane geeks and families alike! Don’t miss the shows that run on weekends all season long.

Shaupeneak Ridge Park - New Paltz

Richard Ness: It’s a very nice trail for what it offers. We hiked the red, green, orange and blue trails. There were no long ascents or descents. I would rate it at moderate difficulty. Most people who can walk a couple miles should be able to do it. The red loop is very easy and brings you to a nice overlook. Almost all of it was tree covered so it should be relatively cooler in the summer. There was a lot of deadfall from the storms but all the trails we were on have been cleared. Any wet areas have small boardwalks. The pond is very pretty and looks great for paddling which I’ll try next time.

Renat Valeev: Great experience, diverse nature, amazing views. Has different routes to the top. You can pick an amazing stone maze route which will give some challenge. Or a nice walk way up to the top. Price of $35 per person worth it.

Ulster Landing County Park - Saugerties

Mattie May: This is a nice park by the river with a network of satisfying trails through the surrounding woods. Whats so satisfying about the trails? Well, they wind by the river while the sun shines through the trees just so, creating a lovely dream-like atmosphere, and then you float off like an oversized butterfly. The moon grows ever larger, and as you approach it you shrink, so it just keeps getting bigger and farther away.

Marbletown Town Park - Kingston

Long Island Bigfoot: Not much to do. Clean and kid friendly. Maybe a decent fishing spot. No swimming was the biggest rule I saw. Pretty location nice part of the esopus creek too.

George H. Freer Memorial Beach - Port Ewen

Alexandra Thorne: Love this place! Has basketball court. Beach can be walked on when the tide is low. Small playground and a pavilion. Beautiful view of the lighthouse tho!

Hudson River Park - Queensbury

M. S.: Usually a big park enthusiast, but there isnt much to recommend this park. I would go so far as to say that this is better off just left as wilderness. Not very pretty.
