Esopus Meadows Preserve - Ulster Park (NY)

4 /5 Mr Spiffy: Great area for views and walking alone, as a couple or with family. There is a bike trail but it is paved with gravel and not tarmac so you wont get a smooth ride compared to the Hudson bike trails. However the scenery, paths and overall history of that area is worth a visit for sure

5 /5 Frank Brunetto: This park has been updated and has several levels of trails from easy to moderate to heavy all trails are marked with color coded markers so you can easily follow the trail that your on. It’s always a good idea to bring a trail buddy , and in case you get in trouble keep water and first aide kit , fully charged phone . Since there has been heavy rains recently some trails can be difficult to traverse . I recommend this place for experience and novice hikers and there is an easier trail to bring older children with you , great way to enjoy nature.

4 /5 Neil Millens: Good views, mixed elevation, some serious rocky and roots trails. Might be good to have trekking poles. Needs more parking spaces.

5 /5 JoAnn Norris: Lovely walking trail that runs along the Hudson River with views of the Esopus Lighthouse. There are also woodland trails with informational boards along the way identifying tree & plant species. Lots of benches for lunch breaks & little bridges over the muddy parts. Easy hike, only about 2 miles total.

5 /5 J Droid Dennis: Very peaceful and quiet recreation area. Easy social distancing. Beautiful views of Hudson River and lighthouse. No swimming or wading. Good place for picnic and area to take kids for a short hike.
