1 /5 Vanessa Keesler: My 82-year-old father arrived by ambulance due to chest pains and pain going down his left arm. Doctor Sharona Schneid gave him Tylenol and was going to discharge him without doing any type of tests. I had to demand medical care in an emergency room. I am now reading the visit notes, and she put we came in for “generalized body aches”. I don’t think anyone would spend money on an ambulance for “body aches”. She also entered false information about his physical check/appearance. Not sure how you can determine all of that information after three minutes. I tried to call for a patient advocate, but of course the number is not in service. If a senior citizen with chest pains is not a priority in an emergency room, then I am afraid for others. I will not be returning to this Hospital ever again, and do not recommend anyone else visit. Update 2.22.25- The director of customer service and patient experience sent me a letter with her findings of my complaint, Which are even more fabricated than the doctor’s visit notes. These employees are very dangerous to the health and safety of the citizens of Mount Vernon.

5 /5 Lesley Charlene Robinson-Smiley: Im actually still a patient in the hospital right now. Only problem I have is the food is to bland. So nasty. They definitely need a better cook. But the staff is amazing. Kerri Ann, kat, and the entire 4th floor ICU and the entire 5th floor staff is amazing. They definitely goes above and beyond for the patients. The doctors are amazing. Wonderful nurse staff. They talk with patients and explain everything in details. Attitudes are amazing. Definitely no complaints. Housekeeping is amazing. Transport is amazing. Basically the entire hospital staff is amazing. All Im saying is thank you for everything

1 /5 Dannielle Hynez: Came to this hospital with chest pain. Waited 5 hours to just be discharged. Doctór and nurse didn’t come to check on me not once. Didn’t offer me anything. Staff on duty was laughing at my situation and no bed side manner. Still with no understanding of what going on. Dr. Sengal K Alazar MD. lied on my discharge papers. All in all one of the worst experiences I’ve had with hospitals.

5 /5 Jo-Anne D: Had a great experience at Montefiore Mt Vernon’s ER. I passed out at a restaurant and brought there to be checked out. The nurses were very kind and professional. They asked many questions about what happened and how I was feeling. The doctor was excellent. The technicians were great and I didn’t wait long for anything to be done. Everyone took great care of me and I was thankful for their care.

1 /5 Natalie Kriegler: My husband was hospitalized twice, unfortunately, at this hospital. The people who work at this hospital in the mental health unit are so rude its beyond believable. I went there once to sign in on the unit and mentioned that there wasnt a pen available and the woman said to me, and I quote: "well youll just have to wait". My time is valuable as Not only was I coming there to visit him but I also have working hours and I could not believe this abject rudeness and unprofessional response. My husband was treated abysmally in this place. It was so obnoxious that I ended up having to employ the assistance of a friend of his who had a very prominent position in the New Rochelle community and one of his cousins who was a police officer from Florida to write letters to try to get him extricated from this Hospital. The head of the mental health unit complied finally after seeing those letters and told me that he would agree to have my husband transferred. He ended up being transferred to St Vincents Hospital in Harrison where he recovered in a few weeks. I am disgusted with the treatment that my husband received here + their rudeness and reverse racism. I took a picture only of my husband and 0 other patient once for his cousin and the man who was an aide who was in the room called Security on me. No one else was in the picture but my husband so I think that this policy and this treatment is and Im going to say this... "reverse racism". They were an all black staff other than a few MDs and the social worker and clearly they didnt like whites. I think they should be ashamed of themselves for their abject rudeness and poor treatment of both my husband and me as a visitor. If I could give a 0 star rating I definitely would.

Rebekah Cohrs: It feels like youre going into a forgotten basement cave when you go in. Just the rooms themselves are so cramped and dated, it definitely does not feel like youll be a priority. I challenge John Carrigg to send his loved ones there. I doubt he would. The nurses all were kind, I was impressed with their care. Thats literally the only positive though. Its been well over a full day with no updates. One Dr spoke to me to get background info almost 24 hours ago at this point. At that time she said Id hear back in a few hours. I waited hours with a patient hoping to get an update, still nothing. Had there been any other feasible option Id be gone in a heartbeat. The lack of social workers or advocates there to assist people unable to make informed decisions on their own there is appalling. I was with a patient and actively seeking answers and got none. What on earth about all those going in with no loved ones to assist? Its like theyre in a black hole where their only use is for the hospital to pad their income through multiple tests that no one ever gets the results to. Again, immediate staff, nurses, guards, I was impressed with their empathy and caring, but they definitely seem to be stuck under the typical issue of out of touch upper management whom assuredly would go to the new Wilson wing if they needed to get treated. If you go here seeking mental health treatment for you or a loved one I am quite sure youll leave scarred from the experience and with new issues to deal with in therapy. This place does not end the cycle, it perpetuates it.

Jennifer Quinn: shout out to UHS e.r staff for their only reception staff who chose to argue with multiple patients, being outright nasty for no reason other than disinterest. Also thank you to the doctors who refused to speak to me, or give me my medication that I have been on and am PHYSICALLY addicted to and then refused to speak to me on why they wouldn’t give it to me as withdrawals set in for the next few hours there to come. She also chose not to relay messages from said doctor to me because of her outbursts. The only staff for the hours I was there that was any help at ALL was security and a social worker by the name of Linda. Go somewhere else, these people don’t give a shit. What was already a horrible situation was made so much worse by the negligence and just outright disinterest of the staff. She also decided around 4:30 she was done despite the waiting room being full and people waiting on her for requests, as I was leaving she had her lights off and her head down napping.

james allen: I can say that this institution is consistent. My ER visit was horrendous. The staff was unattenent and snippy, not to mention slow. The patient advocacy team was difficult to get in contact with and marginally helpful when I finally did. My bill from the hospital did not match what I received from my insurance company, as it had an "insurance adjustment" that raised my bill $233. When I called to get an explanation, it was hard to get in touch with anyone who cared much less who could tell me what the charge was for. After some doing I was told it was a NY state tax, so I asked for an itemized bill reflecting that it was a tax. A couple weeks later I received the same bill in the mail stating the charge was an insurance adjustment along with a Google printout explaining the New York Healthcare Reform Act. And yes I am referring to a printout of a Google search; petty I know. I ended up paying the bill in full just to put this establishment behind me. I would highly recommend going to UHS.

Ms Jordan she’s nice Just to lyk the staff curse I mean there’s no prob w dem doing it bc children do to but if ur on suicidal watch they literally watch u 24/7 They go in the bathroom w u when uu shower also.. very uncomfortable. And sometimes they’re rude and disrespectful but they don’t notice they’re rude . But yeah rate it a 10 it’s not that bad but it’s not worser the turn about ranch ..

When I arrived, Jennifer took me to my bedroom, which was very nice, like a hotel room. She was extremely kind and made me feel at ease while I was there.

Kate DiGraziano: I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of care I received at the Triage/CPEP units. I came in with pretty severe withdrawals & suicidal thoughts, and the nurses/in-house psychiatrists could not have been more compassionate, non-judgmental and attentive towards me. Not only that, but they were very professional in giving me a concrete mental health plan going forward (setting up an appointment with a new psychiatrist for medication management, and another with a social worker I can speak with going forward). It made me feel like I was not alone in this, which is very important in my opinion. If you are in crisis, it can be scary to think of going to one of these places. But I can assure you, one mentally ill chick to another, they will help you here. The waiting room is a bit chaotic -- but once youre back in a room, they really will take care of you. Highly recommend for anyone going through a similar crisis -- there is nothing to be afraid of, they truly want to help you feel like yourself again.

Bobby Scott: After being here for the last 6 months I have found that the staff here really cares about all the residents. The activities director always has fun things set up for everyone and the administrator is always there for the residents and her employees. Here at Christmas time, they had all the hallways decorated and it really put out a home feeling. I am proud to be able to help people and its a joy to watch others do the same.
