1 /5 Taylor Kornstein: I have been to this nail salon before and never loved it, but it’s convenient, so I go. This time was so unpleasant that I truly have no interest in going back. I sat down in the chair to get my nails done at 1:55 PM and was paying at 2:11. During this time Mollie was applying gel polish to my nails. She starts by asking me if I can grow my nails. I explained I’m a nail biter, but I am trying to stop. She then rolls her eyes and proceeds to aggressively push back my cuticles and visible hurt me. She then applies the polish and tells me it’s not good. I explain I have gotten this exact color before and it needs three coats, but I like how it looks. She simply says “no” and then stops every passing nail tech to show them my nails. When she finished applying the polish she scrolled on her phone as my nails dried under the UV light. When the drying process was complete she did not touch up any of the polish that got on my skin, she did not wipe the sticky layer off with alcohol, and the concluding massage consisted of her slapping my back for 2 minutes.
I went to pay and Mollie checked me out. I pulled out my card and she asked if I had cash. I said I’d be paying with card. She then asked how much I was tipping. I truly was not going to tip, but since I was so uncomfortably put on the spot I told her $3. She got upset and asked a number of times “only $3?” As I was leaving the salon, Mollie was pointing at me while angrily speaking to the other employees.
This whole ordeal took 16 minutes and cost $41 (plus $3 tip)
