Traveling from NYC, the trip was definitely worth it. We went on a Tuesday, and luckily, it wasn’t very crowded. I wasn’t dressed quite right for the terrain, though, it’s possible to manage in sneakers you don’t mind getting dirty, but I’d recommend wearing hiking boots with good ankle support. Some parts of the trail are quite rocky, and I felt like I could have twisted my ankle if I hadn’t been careful. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would definitely recommend checking it out.
Castel Grisch Winery - Watkins Glen Ty L: We have a group of 7 enjoying the wine flights, the overall interesting one we all liked are Chardonnay Riesling mix. For wine lovers with younger KiDs they might like the dinosaur and animal lights on the property. It does have some nice decent views.
Shequaga Falls Park - Montour Falls Sara Silva: We were looking for locations that i can easily walk with the wedding dress, this is a beautiful waterfall approximately 100m away from the road.

As an avid traveler who thrives on discovering small-town charm and scenic gems, Clute Park in Watkins Glen, NY was a surprisingly serene stop during my recent visit. Nestled right on the southern edge of Seneca Lake, the park offered more than just open space—it was a visual retreat that combined natural beauty with a touch of local history. The views of the lake were breathtaking, especially as the sun danced on the water’s surface, making it a perfect spot for photography or a reflective pause during a busy travel itinerary.
One of the most captivating things about Clute Park is how seamlessly it blends recreation with tranquility. I wandered along the waterfront path, where locals and visitors alike were enjoying everything from casual strolls to lakeside picnics. The playground and splash pad were full of laughter, while the open spaces gave families room to spread out and enjoy the fresh air.
After spending time by the water, I explored the small downtown area of Watkins Glen, which is just a short walk away. It’s full of charming shops, cozy cafés, and friendly locals. Fun fact: the Corvette idea was actually “born” here in Watkins Glen, giving this scenic little town an unexpected place in American automotive history. Between the vibrant local flavor and Clute Park’s peaceful lakeside setting, this stop became a memorable highlight of my Finger Lakes journey. Highly recommended for nature lovers, families, and road trippers alike.
Seneca Lake Scenic Byway - Burdett Deepak Gupta: 414 drive is excellent. You can do a round about, take a quick stop at Finger lake welcome center, Geneva and then return to village of Watkins Glen, lovely drive overlooking at lake.

Hector Falls - Beth Jessup: Hector Falls is beautiful! The falls is huge & right next to the road. The bottom of the falls crosses under the bridge & has another large drop. It flows by a homestead to the lake. I attached photos from both sides. Theres history here as well.
There are 2 pull off areas on the road (one on each side) that can accommodate about 3 vehicles each. Its a busy road, so be careful. Its worth stopping at, and I recommend it highly.
International Motor Racing Research Center - Watkins Glen Kristin Kosmides: The museum was really neat with staff that are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. They had a really awesome 20 minute video on the history of the grand prix that I really liked. I didnt know much about it so it was really cool to learn the basic history in that short period of time.
