1 /5 Kristin Harris: Travelers Beware!
Traveling through Rochester, on our way to Ohio, we began to hear a whistling noise at the front of our car. We called Total Car Care and they got us in and quickly diagnosed the problem. We were told that fixing the problem with the catalytic converter was going to cost thousands and that if we didnt get it fixed we would be renting a car to get back home. I called our mechanic back in Ohio for a second opinion. He said he had just fixed the same problem in the same make and model car for $611. He also told me that he would have little concern for driving our car back to Ohio. Based on his professional opinion I asked for the keys to the car so I could get my son back to Ohio so he wouldnt be late for work. The guy in charge at Total Car Care told me, "You cant do that!" I insisted and begrudgingly he gave the keys back but not before he charged us $255.47. He and the tech spent maybe 1/2 hour diagnosing the problem, nothing was fixed no parts were changed. I dont know if I know any medical doctors that charge $500 an hour?
Now I am home, thankful that I took the advise of a trusted mechanic. My son made it to work, we are going to get our car fixed at a fair price and I hope people will read this review and be more careful, than I was, to get upfront pricing on even on a diagnosis.
