1 /5 Jess Carnevale: I made an appointment in Feb for an October 11 wedding. I needed the dress to be taken in at the sides, the shoulders, sleeves added, the hem taken up and a bustle added. I made an appointment so early thinking there would be plenty of time to work on it though out prom season and other weddings and daily alterations being brought in. I hadnt heard anything so I called to make another appointment 9/15/25 so that in case anything needed to be adjusted there would be time. An appointment was made for 9/25/25. That appointment was cancelled because the dress was not finished. He said he could have it done by the next day. It was not done in time for one of my bridesmaids to be available to go. I was not able to put my dress... or attempt to put my dress on until 9/29/25. It did NOT FIT!!!!! the left arm hole was so small it was not anywhere near being able to be on my shoulder. The right arm was not as bad but did not fit either. I could put my arm in farther but I could not move my arm at all. The bustle buttons were uneven and a lot of the train was left long enough to be dragging behind me. When questioned about it I was told to just not step backwards. When I asked what about people dancing around me they will step on it. I was told they will be careful of you. I left absolutely HATING my dress. 9/30/25 went back for another try on again it was still wrong. I could get both arms in a little more but still not right. Any movement popped the sleeve buttons and the sleeves became unattached. My mom was with me this time. She knows a little about making clothes. She asked about the bustle and alternatives that would bring the train all the way off the floor. We were abruptly told no it could not be done, this was the only way. 10/1/25 He was closed. 10/2/25 I went back for a 3rd time. The dress was STILL NOT right. The left arm was still to tight and I couldnt move. At that point I took my dress as it was with another seamstress ready to help fix the dress. 9 days before my wedding I had to bring my dress elsewhere. Thank God I did. Not only did she fix the arms so that I could actually put it on my body but she also adjusted the sleeve buttons so that they didnt pop every time I moved. She also gave me 2 bustle options with ALL of the train up and off the floor. He did take of a whopping $30 for not being happy with the sleeves but I still spent over $340 for multiple alterations that ended up needing to be altered again and paid for a second time. It was the most STRESSFUL part of wedding planning. He had the dress for over 7 months and still waited until 2 weeks before the wedding to finish it. I believe it would have been the week of the wedding if I hadnt started calling weeks prior to. Maybe for simple fixes hes ok but I would not bring anything that requires more than a simple hem.
