Mark E. Bachman CPA - Auburn Andrew Drourr: I began working with this CPA firm before tax season even started. They told me they would reach out when it was time to come in, so I trusted their process. Weeks went by with no response, and I had to call multiple times myself. While the front desk would answer, no one ever followed up. Eventually, after all of my effort to chase them down, they didn’t schedule me until March 28th — barely two weeks before the April 15th deadline.
At that appointment, I was blindsided when they told me they would not prepare my return because they disagreed with how my prior CPA had filed it. Instead of simply moving forward, they insisted I file in a completely different way than I ever had before, demanding documentation that would realistically take months to gather. Dropping this on me so close to the deadline was completely unreasonable and left me with no completed return.
I was supposed to be working with Mark Bachman, but instead I was set up with Tim. Tim assured me that they would file an extension since it had taken so long just to get me scheduled. Later, when I asked for a copy of that extension, they couldn’t provide one — because it had never been filed at all. Only after I discovered this failure did Mark tell me that if an extension was needed, it would have been filed. He then turned around and claimed that Tim had never said it in the first place. These conflicting stories between Mark and Tim highlight just how poorly managed this firm is and how little accountability exists.
The end result was that I was misled, ignored, and left completely unprotected as the deadline approached. This experience was a waste of time, caused enormous stress, and showed a shocking lack of professionalism. In my view, their conduct was careless, misleading, and borderline negligent. I strongly caution anyone: do not trust this firm with your taxes. Avoid them at all costs.
