1 /5 Marsha-lee Levy: I’ve never felt so disappointed shopping at Lovisa.
I’ve always loved their jewelry and have been a loyal customer because of how unique their pieces are. But today, I had a truly upsetting experience. I walked into the store looking for earrings to match an outfit for my birthday. There was a “3 for $18” sale, so I took my time browsing.
During this time, no one greeted me. No one asked if I needed help. I noticed that when other customers walked in after me, they were greeted warmly and even offered assistance right away. Meanwhile, I had already been there for several minutes without any acknowledgment.
I couldn’t help but wonder: was I invisible? Or was I treated this way because I’m Black? I genuinely don’t want to jump to conclusions, but it’s hard not to feel like I was being ignored based on how different my experience was from the others around me.
Even when I walked out, no one said anything. No “thanks for stopping by,” no “have a good day.” Nothing while other customers got this approach I did not and I was in the store for over 10 minutes and felt completely disregarded.
I walked in intending to make a purchase but left feeling hurt, unseen, and questioning whether I was racially profiled.
This was not the customer service I expected or deserved. I hope Lovisa reflects on this, because no one should feel the way I did today.
