2 /5 Chris Countryman: This could be a good gym, but i have some feedback to offer. For context, I do muay thai and bjj, so anything said here applies to the "mma" side of the gym. I cannot speak for the other side of the gym as i only passed through it. I attempted conversation with 3 staff members, only one of whom actually interacted with me in any regard and that one was the front desk person, who was pleasant enough but so direct and straight to the point that it was obvious she had zero interest in me as a newcomer to the gym. The bigger staff member on the boxing side avoided me like the plague, and the smaller one completely ignored two attempts at an introduction. Maybe i wasnt being loud enough? Idk. Both repeatedly made eye contact and pulled a "white people smile" but never introduced themselves. After about 10 minutes, both left entirely to go hang out with front desk lady. To me, it seemed like neither was approachable or interested in coaching or instructing. Maybe Im misunderstanding their role but many other reviews mention how attentive and involved the staff is so i feel the need to mention that. The gym is clean and big, but surprisingly lacking in both members (at least when I went, Friday afternoon) and in mma/boxing equipment. Additionally, they require shoes even on the "mma" side of the gym. Coming from muay thai, that is at best, strange, but in reality, completely ineffective for martial arts other than traditional boxing. It gives off the posh attitude of a high end commercial gym, with an equal amount of rules and red tape, but without as many benefits or equipment sets, at least for mma. Again, I really wanted to like it but I got nothing there I couldnt get with an 80 dollar heavy bag from Walmart. I guess this couldve been a one off, but I felt very unwelcome for every second I was there. To their benefit, the hours are great and i do like the concept of the smoothie bar in the front. There are plenty of commodities like showers and nice lockers which are all very well kept and clean. I like that it is essentially an open mat on the mma side, wherein you can work whatever movements you want. You cant fault it for being slow when i was there, but then again that makes the indifference of the staff all the more inexcusable. This gym could be great, but there is definitely plenty of room for improvement on the mma side of the gym.
