2 /5 Emily: I’ve always admired the beautiful jewelry in the window when I walked by Silverado. So when my partner and I were spending the day looking at engagement rings, we thought we would give Silverado a try! I’ve been looking for a unique ring that was meaningful, personal, and ethically sourced. I loved that Silverado included who made the jewelry. Plus I would much rather support a small business than a big corporation. It felt so personal—exactly what I wanted! I knew this wasn’t an engagement ring store, but I was excited to look at something a bit different!
However, once the sales associate came to “help” us, our experience quickly went downhill. I asked about a pair of earrings in the same case as the ring I liked. The sales associate scoffed and said that they were expensive, not even telling me how much they cost or offering to take them out of the case. We didn’t even mention what our budget was. I moved on since the earrings were not what I was there for anyway.
Then when I asked about another ring nearby, the same sales associate said that it was “sparkly but expensive,” put it on her own finger, and then set it aside. Don’t get me wrong, it was pricey. But still within budget for what we were looking for.
When I asked about how these rings stand up to daily wear, she chuckled and said “is this like for an engagement ring?” I felt like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman! There are lots of wonderful jewelry stores nearby with friendly employees who want to help you, not embarrass or degrade you.
