Madison I want to share my experience working with Egon’s on custom engagement ring, which had a strong start but a disappointing finish. Working with Tim was excellent. He truly listened to my wishes and brought in a skilled designer to make the ring a reality. Both were knowledgeable, professional, and made me feel valued throughout the design process. Unfortunately, the positive experience ended after purchase.
When we tried to insure the ring, the initial carrier requested an appraisal. We contacted Egon’s thinking they mustve forgotten to include it in our paperwork as their website states, “with EVERY engagement ring purchase we provide... free appraisals". We were informed by the owner that they do not issue appraisals on lab-created diamonds. His tone was dismissive and curt. It was extremely frustrating because at no point during the sale was this policy communicated to us.
We understand that sometimes details can be missed or not explicitly discussed during busy conversations, that happens. What is not acceptable, however, is that the owner insisted his team, including his wife who was the designer, had informed us clearly, which they did not. Again, their website states, “for EVERY engagement ring purchase we provide... free appraisals,” with no disclaimer about lab stones. This is misleading and lacks transparency.
We asked the owner to recommend insurance companies that would accept the purchase receipt instead of an appraisal, but he was unable to provide any guidance or support. It felt like once they had our money, the customer service and support vanished.
I love my ring and had a wonderful experience designing it, but the owner’s dismissive attitude and lack of post-sale support left a very sour impression. If Egon’s wants to maintain trust and loyalty, they need to be upfront about their policies and provide consistent, respectful service throughout the entire customer journey.
Until their website and communication reflect the true policies and they offer better support, I cannot recommend them fully. We are now reconsidering whether to get our wedding bands there, which is a real shame given how much I enjoyed working with the team.
