Boondocks Restaurant & Bar - Lyons Falls (NY)

5 /5 R J: We were looking for a really good dining experience while staying in the Boonville area not long ago. While the reviews for Boondocks were overwhelmingly positive, we were a little unsure what to expect when we pulled into the parking lot. We decided to take a chance anyway and the result was a truly excellent experience. Even though the restaurant does have a bar, its isolated from the restaurant and dining room and provided us with a quiet dining experience, which we truly appreciated. The woodsy atmosphere of the dining room, complete with "trees", rock formations, a small waterfall, and a stream, is a unique but perfect touch considering the restaurants location. We arrived shortly before 5 PM and we were seated immediately with menus. Our server stopped by shortly after that and took our beverage orders. After reviewing the menu choices, our server returned and took our dinner orders: Chicken Marsala and a full rack of BBQ ribs. Our dinners were served up hot 20 minutes later. The Chicken Marsala was delicious and nicely coated in Marsala sauce, instead of some thin, watery mess like some other restaurants serve up. The BBQ ribs were definitely a full rack. They were cooked perfectly, very tasty, and slid off the bone easily. Perfectly prepared! Both meals were delicious, and portion sizes were more than ample and very filling. I also need to recognize our server, Delaney. She was very personable, engaging, and attentive throughout our entire meal. Exactly the kind of server you hope is serving your next restaurant meal. Our entire visit here was flawless from start to finish. Their menu offers a nice variety of offerings. Our bill for two delicious and filling dinners with beverages totaled a bit over $66 plus tax. We recommended Boondocks to family members visiting this area recently and they had an excellent dining experience here as well. We would definitely recommend Boondocks to others, although I understand that the menu prices may not fit easily with some dining budgets. Enjoy, and thanks for reading!

5 /5 Blueshredder79: Oh boy, what a cool place! For starters, the ambiance is fantastic for a date night, with a waterfall and stream running through the restaurant. Its peaceful and relaxing. The staff were some of the most polite young people Ive encountered in a long time. Our server Amelia was fantastic. I didnt have to ask for anything. She did seem to run away when we asked what the sauce for the sweet potato fries was, apparently its a heavily guarded secret recipe, Lol. The food was good, we started with a loaded fries app and the cheese sauce was on a different level, if that was cheese whiz thrn they have discovered a magical way of heating it! The fries were absolutely fresh and crispy until the last bite. My wife ordered a tangled Philly cheesesteak with sweet potato fries. The cheesesteak was smothered in Swiss with onions and peppers, but it also had this bourbon bbq sauce that had all the right amounts of sweet and savory. The sweet potato fries were as fresh and crispy as the app fries. The sauce, though, is a toss-up of either marshmallow or root beer or something! I can not place it, and the waitress was not willing to share that info saying it was homemade. I had the grilled chicken breast with mushrooms and provolone, I believe. It came with the veggie of the day and one other side. I chose the loaded mashed potatoes. The chicken was very flavorful, a tad dry but not enough to ruin my meal by any means. The green beans were delicious and were seasoned with minced garlic. Usually, restaurants just serve boring steamed veggies, but the Boondocks obviously know the importance of flavoring veggies. The loaded mashed potatoes were fantastic. They used the same magical cheese sauce that was on the fries. The bacon was delicious and crispy. Overall, my wife and I loved this place! Even though its over an hour away, we plan on going back and making this place our special occasion restaurant. We also plan on booking a weekend at the hotel sometime as well. Oh! I forgot to mention they have a bar and arcade as well. They even have live music. Great staff, great food, and just a fantastic atmosphere.

4 /5 Brandon Palmer: Pretty good restaraunt to go to while up in the tug hill area. Never had a bad meal, always solid. Nothing amazing, but good. Last trip up I had the prime rib special. It was decent, not the best ever but certainly nothing to complain about. Love the decor and staff
