I recently had a deeply frustrating experience with A&S Express Auto Repair, which I feel compelled to share to warn potential customers. Here is a detailed account of my experience:
I called the shop to address a serious issue with my car—it was wearing out the tires unusually fast. They asked me to bring the car in for an inspection, which I did promptly.
Despite my clear communication about needing a price estimate before any work was done due to my limited budget as a full-time student, the shop failed to provide timely information. Over the span of 5 days, I made multiple trips and several phone calls just to get a price quote. This lack of efficiency was highly inconvenient and unprofessional.
When they finally provided a quote, it was a staggering $730 for:
1. Front frame work, initially quoted at $150, then included in the $730 total.
2. Two control arms, each costing $150, plus 2 hours of labor at $90/hour, totaling $480.
3. An alignment for $100.
Realizing I couldn’t afford such high costs, I sought to lower the expense by sourcing cheaper control arms myself. When I suggested this to the mechanic, he responded rudely, accusing me of wasting his time and dismissing my efforts to find
Feeling that I was being taken advantage of, I managed to find the required parts for significantly less—around $90 for both control arms compared to their $300 quote. Despite this, the shop refused to work with the parts I provided, demanding an additional $90 for a 3/4-hour labor charge, which made no sense.
After days of back-and-forth, without any progress, I decided to retrieve my car. The mechanic, however, made this difficult by refusing to move another car that was blocking mine, further delaying my efforts to leave. This unprofessional behavior led me to call the police to help resolve the situation.
This entire ordeal has been unnecessarily stressful and financially straining. The lack of clear communication, excessive pricing, and poor customer service were deeply disappointing. As a full-time student, I rely on my car for daily activities, and this experience has caused significant disruptions.
I strongly advise potential customers to be cautious when dealing with A&S Express Auto Repair. Seek second opinions and be aware of possible overcharging practices. I hope my experience helps others avoid similar frustrations.
