1 /5 Rose Zielinski: It took 9 months to get a new patient appointment. I drove my handicapped daughter and arrived a half hour early and had to sit outside because the office was locked for lunch break. When it was opened we checked in. The person behind the desk after we sat waiting finally called us up to inform us that she did have an appointment for 1:00 pm but the dentist would be out of the office for 2 months and that the secretary was not there so we would have to call the next day to schedule a new appointment. Also there was no appointment for a dental cleaning and no one able to do a teeth cleaning. My daughterâs care manager was also not notified that the dentist would not be there for the appointment. Handicapped people on Medicaid are not treated as well as others with private insurance. When I was working and had private dental insurance, my daughter saw a dentist for 11 years who doesnât take Medicaid. This dentist charged us FULL PRICE when I lost private insurance and refused to lower his price to match what private insurance pays. The poor have to pay more for medical services and get treated poorly.
It wasnât easy driving there due to the Lilac festival traffic and closed roads. We were never given directions and the clinic is in the back out of sight and hard to find.
