04-2025 John K. Maesaka, MD in Best 15 MD and Hospital near Mineola, NY (Part 4)Nassau Immediate Medical Care - Williston Park Laura Dolan: After going for an emergency appointment years ago, we learned Dr. Welgrin could be our primary care physician and have never looked back. Shes very thorough and accommodating. No waiting months to schedule an appointment.

David Shin, MD - Garden City Syed: Dr. David Shin is an excellent surgeon with great communications skills. Not knocking him, but for a common procedure that lasted less than 1 hours, NYU billed my insurance company $85,000 not including anathesia and pathology. NYU kept billing for 6 months after the procedure. While my insurance company didnt pay the outrageous billed amounts, God help you if you have no insurance or so so insurance. Whats worse, NYU asks for donations after their outrageous billing. You cant make this up
Disclaimer: Actual patient and this is my opinion.
Optum Lake Success Multi-Specialty Center - Marcus Ave - New Hyde Park Lee Licata: This is a review specifically about Dr Mark Hoffman. I have never dealt with such a horrible doctor in all my 75 years of life. I was sent to that practice by my primary whom I have known for many years; but he did not specify which doctor to see. I made the appointment for a hematologist and I was given Dr. Mark Hoffman. If you need a hematologist, stay away from him. He was rude and unsympathetic. I was having a very bad day with my arthritis and could not even sit in a chair. He was not phased in the least. I was there for a high platelet count. If he knew his trade, he would known that inflammation often causes high platelet count; and my body is loaded with arthritis and is always inflamed. Cutting to the chase, he took all sorts of blood and told me he would be back to me in 2 weeks. 2 MONTHS later, he called to tell me that I have some sort of a genetic anomaly. Thank God it was not life-threatening or I would already have been in the ground and not able to accept his call. Had I known it was him on the phone, I would not have even answered. He was still rude even though he was in the wrong. (FYI: I answered because the dear friend of mines name is Mark and has the last name beginning with H, a coincidence. I thought it was my friend calling me not this horrible doctor.) You are better off going to a hematologist in a dollar store than to go to this Joker!
Peter Edward ONeill, MD - Garden City Daniel Acevedo: I’ve worked in Healthcare for many years. Dr.O’Neill has amazing bedside manners and does not rush. I waited many months to get an appointment with him, but it was well worth the wait!
James Drakakis, DO - Mineola Katharine ODette: There is absolutely no doctor better than him. I have the highest expectations, and he exceeds them. He is incredibly smart, good at what he does, always open to discussing alternative options, and easily accessible and approachable. I trust him and his expert opinion on everything. My husband jokes, “How do you think we picked out our fence?” As if I ask him advice on everything. I usually think I’m smarter than most doctors but I defer to this one on everything. He even realizes more things on my heart testing results then even my cardiologist. He is all my doctors in one. I use my nephrologist as if he is my primary care physician. Incredible! No one like him! One of a kind!
NYU Langone Health - New York Sean W: great, the er was efficient, given pain meds and Iv within 1 hour arriving. Nurse and doctor from the er to the surgery room and floor nurse were all very kind and friendly
Dr. Preeti Mehta, MD at Lake Success, NY - North New Hyde Park Amy Eisenberg: The most disappointing Doctor my family has ever gone to. The communication is awful. I left a ton of messages and the doctor hasn’t called back. My daughter was sent for a test to figure out why she is constantly nauseous but the CT scan she had to drink a thick milky like substance and she was too nauseous to get it down. I called and got the PA and asked. She said she would speak to the doctor and call back. Weeks ago and we still haven’t heard back. Called the office again and asked to speak specifically to the doctor and expressed how my other calls weren’t answered and that I am very upset by the lack of communication. She said she would pass this along to the doctor and still no call back. Went to Dr Preehta for help and answers as my daughter has been nauseous for 4 years and no one can figure out why. What a complete waste of our time and money and so beyond disappointed in this doctor. Just awful the lack of care and communication.
NewYork-Presbyterian / Weill Cornell Medical Center - New York Waheed Abdul: My wife was recently admitted in NYP for car-t cell transplant, and had an exceptional experience from start to finish. The facility was clean, well-organized, and efficient. The reception staff was friendly and made the check-in process seamless.
Her doctors were not only knowledgeable but also took the time to thoroughly explain my condition and treatment options. The nursing staff was incredibly kind, attentive, and made sure I was comfortable throughout my stay. I truly appreciated their patience and professionalism.
Oncologist Dr Mejia is an outstanding physician.
The hospital also maintained excellent hygiene and safety protocols, which made me feel secure during my visit. Overall, I’m extremely grateful for the outstanding care I received and would highly recommend NYP to anyone in need of medical attention.
