1 /5 Lonnie Mee: This used to be what I thought, a very trust worthy company to work with, however, after my most recent interaction with them, I will not be using Knappy’s any longer! I took my vehicle (2022 Hyundai Elantra N ) in for just an estimate to get a door repaired after someone hit it in a parking lot and took off. We were just looking to pay out of pocket without the hassle of using our insurance. However, the guy told us that it would be around $1700 and we should just use our insurance as our deductible was only $500 and if we did they would try and help us out. Long story short, we did use the insurance, ended up with a second hand door (the inside was all scratched and the weather stripping was not even attached) and they ended up charging our insurance over $6000!!! Did a bunch of things that were not asked to be done (they said they were trying to help us out) which is not helping when we did not ask for anything else to be touched! We expected a nice new looking door- inside and out! I went in to ask about the charges on my statement from the insurance and see what was going on and was made to feel as if I were doing something wrong by asking. I was trying to be respectful and quiet to not bring extra attention to what we were discussing, when 2 other men that worked in the shop decided they were going to jump in and say they did things as a courtesy and didn’t get paid for it, when I tried to pull up the statement to show that he was most definitely paid for that specific job, the man went in the back of the shop, but not before trying to make it sound like I wanted something done for free and wasn’t appreciating that they charged my insurance for something that was NOT needing to be done! Then, the man that did my initial estimate tried saying that I was lying about him telling us we should go the insurance route and they would work with us over the deductible, but once the other customer left the shop, proceeded to try and apologize and say he did say that. They can keep their apologies, I will NOT be using a shop that doesn’t have the customer service capabilities to at least communicate what they are doing to my vehicle while in their care. I will be contacting my insurance as well to let them know that the work they did was NOT related to this claim and I have the initial statement from the police report and my claim I submitted with my insurance company to support that. Please if you choose this company, make sure you KNOW what they are doing to your car BEFORE you drop it off or they will charge your insurance a ridiculous amount of money and make it sound like they are running a charity!
