04-2025 Nail Tek in Top 21 Reviews Nail and Spa New City, NY new updateTrendy Nail Spa - Nyack Chrissy: I really hate to leave a negative review, but I came here because of the positive reviews and got a terrible manicure. First, I chose an Opi nail polish. They swapped it out for some other polish in a similar color. I asked for my nails to be rounded and they made them EXTREMELY square. The manicure itself consisted of filing, soaking my nails in COLD water, cutting my cuticles, having me get up and go wash my hands in their sink, a lukewarm washcloth, and some moisturizer. They didnt use cuticle oil or anything nourishing. The manicure itself was sloppy and goopy.
The nail technician was wearing a latex-type glove on one hand. This grossed me out because it clearly had not been changed since previous clients. There were nail polish streaks on it and the fingers had holes in them.
On top of all of this, I got the manicure at 5:30 last night and did literally nothing with my hands all night or morning today (it is 10 am as I write this). All but one of my nails is badly chipped, and two of my nails are missing over 50% of the polish on them. I blame the likely cheap polish they swapped the Opi for and probably some equally cheap base and top coats. The people here were nice, but I wouldnt go back if you paid me.
Also, as a side note, they have a notice saying they upcharge 5% for paying with a credit card. I didnt even see it until I was on my way out, after I had paid. I wish they had told me when I took out my card, because I would have paid cash. Also, its technically illegal to charge more than the credit card surcharge, and mastercard (which is what I paid with) typically charges merchants 1.15-3.15%. The high end for Amex, which is notorious for being the most expensive, is 3.5%.
D Lux Beauty Lounge Inc. - Haverstraw Rosa Perez: I had been looking for a new nail salon since I moved to the area and finally found the one! I called for a last minute appointment for my birthday and was lucky enough that someone cancelled. I got a gel manicure and regular pedicure. Adrianna was fabulous and the entire place was clean and beautiful! The owner Dawn was super nice and welcoming as I told her I was new to the area. Will definitely be back.
Delias Nails & More - Haverstraw Raquel B: I’d give 0 star if it was possible. Not only they completely changed the shape of my nails without asking, they don’t clean their utensils and do a horrible job. I didn’t even wait to let my nails dry cause I’m so upset I’m gonna be removing the polish as soon as I get home!
There’s probably another nail tech there that could be better but I’m definitely not coming back to try! EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!
Magical nails & spa 1 - Haverstraw S B: I have been going to this shop for over 2 years now. After moving to the area and trying several salons, I decided to make Magical nails my new nail home. I love very intricate nails and Hailey is my nail tech and shes absolutely awesome at what she does. I show her my inspo pics and she delivers each time. Ive never been disappointed here and I always stick to my tech or when shes booked up she refer me to someone as good as her if I cant wait. The prices are affordable and the best in the area. I like the fact that my tech is attentive and she takes pride in her work.
Galaxy Nails - Nanuet Jessie Garcia: This place is the absolute best! My mom and I came for gel manicures with Martha and Pamela. They always do an amazing job! I love that they take their time with you, and properly remove previous gel polish. I’ve also came for regular polish pedicures and they last for weeks.
Fancy Nails Professional Nail Care - Mikaela Goldstein: Made an appointment for 2:00pm with my friend, they ignored me and said they’d take my friend and we still ended up waiting 2 hrs and never got taken.
Cutie Nails - Spring Valley YoungBlenda WakeUpSon: Cuties Nail & Spa has some of the best techs in the town. Even when it’s packed and busy you just wait your turn and you’ll get great service! Clean, courteous and professional, go check them out!!
Kerry Nail Spa - Nanuet Shelley Maxi: Kerry nails is the worst. I was recommended by a friend to go; as they have had great things to say. I went in for a new full set. I had gel nails on expecting them to take them off the proper way by melting the gel and using aluminum to scrape it off. She proceeded to take them off with an acrylic nail. The gel was flying in my face and she ruined my nail beds. I left with sore finger tips and could not get my services done. If you have gel nails do not go to them to take them off.
Nyack 5 Star Nails & Spa - Nyack Hally G: I would give this place a zero if I can I’m not a new customer. I’m always a returning customer, but this is the second or even third time that I’ve went to get a manicure and the nail polish and my nails are already chipping. I don’t work a heavy job. I don’t do heavy labor for my nails to be getting this bad. It’s only been one week since I’ve gotten my nails done so this is really unacceptable Anna. She’s a good stylist, but she has been messing up my nails so now it’s really getting aggravating and does not do a good job anymore. It’s like they don’t wanna serve people of color rightly but when it comes to white customers, they’re gonna do whatever they can for their white customers. It’s like if you guys don’t want Black people in there just let us know. This is so degrading
Update: I went back to the salon, and they did fix my nails free of charge, which I appreciate. However, the overall experience still wasn’t great. The new set wasn’t done properly either—the shape came out wider than what I originally had, and the attention to detail just wasn’t there.
While the staff is nice, the quality of work just doesn’t match up. If you’re looking for a salon that consistently delivers good nails, I wouldn’t recommend this place. Nyack businesses really need to step up because losing customers over basic quality control is not it. The picture with the brown background is the updated one that I got in my nails you don’t even have to zoom in the picture, but you can obviously see that the nails are different shapes and sizes. I don’t have to be a professional to see that.
New Style Nails &Spa - Cedarhurst Volquez Family: First time at New Style Nails and Spa yesterday since my nail technician is on vacation. I figured reviews werent as bad compared to others in the area. I called, and the phone service was polite and prompt. I showed up needing a spa pedicure and a builders gel fill on my natural 3/4" long almond shape natural nails - both w/ clear gel finish. Lisa did my Lavander Spa Pedicure. Shes been there for about a month or so; however, she has worked in the field for over a year. She was able to communicate in English, was sweet and attentive, and seemed to have a good eye for detail. Unfortunately, that was not the case, although I know she gave it her best. As shown in the pictures I shared, treatment of the cuticles was done poorly. Theres more cleaning that was needed before applying the polish. Once the gel was applied, some of it was applied over the cuticle, and that can potentially damage my nail underneath and peel off. Not to mention, eliminating a defined line from the cuticle to where the nail begins. Then we moved to my hands. The gentleman who serviced me smokes, and that was obvious, the moment we sat across each other, making the experience disgusting from the beginning. I had severe lifting in some of the nails, so he proceeded to remove all the lifted gel in order to prep the nails for a new coat. Well, let me tell you how he ripped one of my natural nails in its entirety! I mean, clumsy and rough and just out of focus. I walked in that salon with 10 healthy natural nails and walked out with a fake plastic tip. I could have ripped his face off at that moment. Im literally telling this guy to be careful and to remove the lifted gel from both sides evenly when I see my entire nail, just lift and go with the gel. No apology, no regard, no shame, just $10 for a plastic tip nail. To say the least, he couldnt even fit the tip properly onto my nail plate (middle finger, right hands), leaving a gap between my cuticle, the nail bed, and the plastic tip. Its the most hideous nail job I have gotten in a long time. Cuticles were not treated at all in the manicure. Not a buff or cleaning, nothing. In fact, one of the pictures shows stuff still on my cuticles. The lifting on some of the nails was not addressed. You can see dirt and build it underneath some of the nails. Filing is uneven, and some nails have excessive amounts of product. Not to mention, some of the gel is, once again, on the cuticles. It was a total of $140 ($20 tip for Lisa, $10 tip for the manager, and $110 for the services). I was so, so disappointed, frustrated, and still had to return because they forgot to put polish on one of my thumb nails. I mean, I can go on and on about this place. At the very end, I had to ask the guy to stop filing my nails, or he was going to ruin them beyond repair. Overall, they mean well and have potential, but the attention to detail is beyond anything Ive ever seen. I walked into that place with long, beautiful, natural nails that had been perfectly manicured for months only for these people to butcher my hands and end up with a fake nail.
