National Soaring Museum - Elmira (NY)

5 /5 Theresa St. John: Wonderful museum highlighting the history of soaring. I have more images, and will add them as I find them. Docent was very knowlegeable, especially with the WWII soaring and females who became important figures in the industry. Nice gift shop with books and other items to purchase while there. I thought it was a very interesting place to visit.

4 /5 Todd Mackey: The museum is at Harris Hill which is a historical soaring location and the museum is good and informative. I went in November, so there were no flight operations at that time, and although reflected in the rating, I didnt visit at the best time. A better time may be May to September, but I am glad the museum was open and we had it pretty much to ourselves. The museum is focused on soaring and gliders, and is very good in that regard. I think that it would warrant another star if visited while they are launching gliders.

5 /5 SamArt Henna Contour: Amazing experience. My kids love planes, flying. The video shown at the beginning of the tour was very informative. I came to know about this museum last minute while on a short trip to the area to mainly visit Watkins Glen. Otherwise, I would have booked the ride. We didnt know we were staying/visiting historic town where the gliders were trained during WWII until we visited this museum. Loved the gift shop. My kids wanted to buy more, but we managed to stop them on tshirts, pens, and a few airplane models. The staff was very kind and friendly. It is very well kept and clean. The ticket is just $10 for adults and $5 for kids, which you can pay when you arrive.
