They advertise themselves as being inclusive of all hair types and textures, but as someone with 4B-4C hair, my experience really didnt reflect that.
The highlight service with Ari went well. However, the styling portion of my appointment, which was pre-booked, was handled differently than expected. Without explanation, I was transferred to another stylist who appeared unfamiliar with my hair texture. They applied a strengthening treatment for an additional $45 that left my hair feeling dry. When I inquired about the styling that I had booked after the poor result from the second stylist, I was passed to a third stylist. Throughout this process, there was minimal communication about these changes.
The payment situation was a mess too. After paying about $500 (with tip), they told me the payment didnt go through and asked me to pay again. I found out later they were having issues with their payment system and this had happened before - but nobody told me that at the time. Being non-confrontational, I agreed to the second charge, but ended up leaving the salon with a double charge of over $1000 on my card. While they did eventually fix the payment issue, I walked out with no clear idea of when Id get my money back, and poorly styled hair.
While the highlight service itself was okay, the lack of communication, stylist swaps, and payment problems made this a really disappointing experience.
Queen of Swords - Brooklyn ar nomula: I had an amazing experience with Megan! From the moment I walked in, she was so warm and inviting, making me feel completely comfortable. She really took the time to understand what I wanted and worked her magic on my wavy, thick hair. If youre looking for a stylist who truly cares and knows what theyre doing, I highly recommend Megan!
The Bird House Salon - Gowanus - Brooklyn Mari Khat: I can confidently say this is the best haircut I’ve ever had. Gillian is a pleasure to be around, and absolute professional and an artist. She makes perfection look easy. Today was my first visit after years of searching for a stylist and I’m now a lifetime client.
Lima beauty salon & SPA - Brooklyn Polina Dziuba: I really liked this salon: the cozy interior, good service, and most importantly - the wonderful staff. The stylist, Nadezhda, did an incredible job with my hair: I have curly hair, and she is the first stylist who was able to handle it and gave me the cut I wanted. I will definitely keep coming back to her again and again!

She really listens to what I ask her to do. She’s honest and capable. Her prices are reasonable. I highly recommend her!
Smart Hair Studio/Organic color/Botanical keratin - Brooklyn courtney lawrence: This is a long overdue review. I just moved to the city full time and had been looking for a place to redo my keratin treatment. Saw great reviews about this place and it did not disappoint. Angela was inspecting my hair type and gave her recommendation of doing the protein based treatment over the keratin. However, I was a little concerned as I had never done this before but then she allowed me the time to do research and think about the differences and did not pressure me to choose her recommendation. Additionally, Esther who is a part of her team also inspected my hair for a second opinion and had done both the keratin and protein treatments on her hair which gave me comfort if I decided to ever switch back to keratin treatments.
All in all I decided to go with the protein treatment and I do not regret it. My hair was been so much easier to blow dry and maintain. I was also not pressured to buy any products from them but was given samples in the event I wanted to. Getting hair treatments like this in NY is definitely pricey but I will 100% be going back to get my hair done hair as the experience and quality were superb.
Victoria J Hair Salon - Brooklyn C W: Great all-around experience, no exaggeration. The shop is very welcoming and homely. Victoria is very informative, helpful, funny, caring and honest. She is also a great teacher with amazing taste in music and atmospheric vibes. When my hair was washed it felt so amazingly relaxing and she made sure that I was comfortable throughout it all. I am truly happy that I was able to book her services for my locs and will definitely continue to in the future. She is truly talented and a master of her craft!
ARCO New York - Brooklyn ishanti foster: the best hair salon experience ever! im obsessed with this place, and its officially become my new hair care home. my stylist is geneva!! the amount of care & time she took to manage and do my hair was exceptional, shes the best and im so happy to continue my hair journey with her. the atmosphere and interior is stunning and screams luxurious, i enjoyed some peppermint tea (they offer a few beverage options) as well and the hair products smell amazing and worked wonders on my 4c hair. all organic and plant based which is exactly what i need for a sensitive scalp like mine!!!!
Express Hair Salon - Brooklyn Yuribel Vazquez: I fell in love with this place. The vibe is nice, place is clean, prices are great. The staff is very welcoming, but special thanks to Mildred my hairstylist she is very knowledgeable in what she does, I followed her advice and my hair turned out so soft and so beautiful. Definitely recommend.
Bohemian Soul Natural Hair Salon in Brooklyn NY - Brooklyn Shakeema Buchanan: I had my 1st appointment at Bohemian Soul today and it was amazing. The aesthetic of the salon is vibrant and welcoming.The price of the services are also very reasonable.
My services included a wash, treatment, trim and medium two strand twist. Deitra gave me a friendly and warm welcome to her salon. Her energy made me feel completely at ease and I instantly knew I would be in good hands. Dietra was gentle and precise which resulted in my beyond satisfaction of the finished style. I was nervous I would leave with much of my hair chopped off but Dietra trimmed my hair which left me with length retention. I would gladly recommend Bohemian Soul.
