Sima Karshenas Stephanie is the BEST!! Every time I go to her I feel so refreshed and polished. I always feel like she knows exactly what to do and I feel listened to. She is so nice and true professional who puts the customer first with her knowledge, skill, and dedication. Truly the best haircuts and colors I’ve ever had. The salon is amazing and so relaxing! can’t recommend this salon and Stephanie enough!!

Alexis Lenaburg Grateful for my spa day yesterday at Inner Beauty, Steph came through for my hair, (making me pretty again haha!) I usually leave it up to her knowledge and expertise and always leave feeling amazing. Thank you Steph! Also, for helping me choose skin products that I hadnt previously, already indulging. Dawn is the most gentle, caring skin perfectionist-happened to have an opening yesterday while I was there to shape and tint my brows and I could not be happier. Normally I have very thin brows (thyroid issues which the ladies are aware of and compassionate towards). You are the best Dawn! Very much made my week, month, probably several and I appreciate your energies and care every visit. Oh and upon leaving I even had a brief venting/emotional sesh with the ladies and got to let out some tears-so its honestly like a whole being well-visit. Being a nurse and mom, stress relief is KEY! Niko Konan NATURAL HAIR GIRLS BEWARE!! I was natural for over twenty years. I went to this salon for a blowout. They were very nice but kept telling me my hair needed a DEEP conditioner. Welp. I did the DEEP conditioner and got a blowout. It was beautiful. Only when i went to wash my hair it didnt recert back to its curl pattern. Stayed straight and then started to breakoff as it grew out. They had perm in their conditioner. I have terrible breakage around all my edges. Im heartbroken that they did this to me. I now have to start all over again. This place should be shut down what they did was literally criminal.

Tasha Benbow-Harris ASK THE PRICE BEFORE YOU GET IN THE CHAIR!!!!!!! I am taking precious minutes of my life to share about an experience that I recently had with a Poughkeepsie hair salon. I wish this was to talk about the awesome experience that I had but…years ago when this place was called Yahaira’s, I was fairly regular with my wash and sets, so when I was back in need of a good wash and set and a simple cut, it was the obvious choice. On Friday, October 28, I stopped by and asked if I needed an appt and how much a wash and set with a cut was. The woman told me “$35 and up for the wash, $10 and up for the cut.” Two days later I returned. There was nothing unremarkable or remarkable about my experience in the chair, except that the stylist (the same woman who gave me the prices on Friday, made comments about how dry and thin my hair was, in the little English that she seemed to speak. I brushed it off because it was true. All is said and done and I go to check out and she says to me with a straight face, “$80.” It took a moment to process because I thought I heard wrong. I asked again, and she repeated that absolutely ridiculous price to me. I asked what the breakdown was. She said the wash and set was $45 and up and the cut was $25 and up. Forget the fact that she told me completely different (jacked up) prices…what does and up mean? I asked what “I” was paying for. When I told her what she had previously told me as the prices, she smiled, shook her head and said, “no.” I only had a card so I was forced to pay the $80…NO TIP! I left feeling beat down by the audacity, as if I was born yesterday. I don’t even know what to suggest to other potential customers because the experience was so brazen. There was no reason I should have left paying more than $50. They lost a potential long-term customer because of a big con. They should be ashamed of themselves. I plan to Google translate this into Spanish and take it back to the salon so they know that they are going to be put on blast…I work at Poughkeepsie school…I’m telling anyone who will listen. NOT OK!

Tisha Tucker Blessings is my new go to spot for braids/twists. Esther did an incredible job and was soooo gentle. The shop was clean and quiet. Ive gotten so many compliments and loved my experience there.

JoyWill75 I have tried two braiding salons here in Poughkeepsie and I was not happy with their work at all and unfortunately vowed not to return to either one. I googled other braid salons in the area and found African Hair Braiding Studio. I made appointments for two of my nieces (11 year olds). They were able to do their hair (knotless box braids) on the same day at the same time and the braids came out very pretty. It’s a nice, clean and new salon. Both ladies were personable and professional. I plan on returning for myself and with other family members.

Discount_ Trashhh My friend recommended this place to me and honestly Im glad I went. I Love it. I was prepared to sit for alot more hours but it was so quick. Ask for Esther she did my hair and I love it. She was so nice and professional. This was my first time during quarantine getting my hair done and it was very clean she wore a mask the whole time. No tight braids that hurt my head either. 10/10 place

Hunter Cameron Petro I had a fantastic experience with Kara over at Alchemy Hair! Im the constant victim of a bad haircut, so I have a little bit of "haircut PTSD" at this point and was very nervous about getting another bad cut. Kara took the time to do a full consultation with me before taking out any tools to ensure my comfort and that we were on the same page. I really appreciated the positive attitude and professional experience. She gave me a great haircut, and Ill definitely be going back!

Chloe Mort I was super nervous coming into the salon because I haven’t had a professional haircut in 3 years, last time I got one from a different place I really wasn’t happy with the results. This was my very first time coming here and I’m happy to say I will 100% be coming back, I was so comfortable in the space and Kara made sure I walked out with a hairstyle that I really loved. My hair feels much lighter, healthier and overall just better now. I walked out with so much confidence in my hair. Again, I will definitely be coming back in the future. Kara is someone you can absolutely trust to do your hair properly! It’s also very affordable, I have shoulder length wavy hair and I got a wash, cut and blow dry for $50, I highly suggest coming here!

Cindy C Today was my first time seeing Kara and it was a great experience! She took the time before we started to talk to me about my hair and ask questions about what I wanted. After she washed my hair, we spoke again and she explained what her thoughts were and what she planned to do and asked if I was okay with her ideas. My hair turned out beautiful- just what I wanted! Kara was just lovely to chat with! I will definitely be a returning client!

Amanda Figueiredo I did not like how the owner tried to increase the price and make the other lady pretend she put in a product in my hair when she didn’t. I had a simple wash, rollers and blower. I didn’t put anything else or even flat iron my hair which they try to pressure you into doing. I have been to many Dominican hair stylist. This is by far the worst one.

Dail MT Milena is the BEST at hair care for males as well as females. Unlike many hair salons that operate like a mill, churning out their clients with noisy hasty visits and damaging processing, Melina takes the time to advise you if something you want to do to your hair may cause it damage. She trains her staff to be as polite and courteous as she is herself. Clean and uncluttered space. They go the extra mile to make your visit relaxing and pampered with offers of water tea, donuts, cake and chocolates. They certainly provide an exceptional customer experience every time.

Sandi Santiago The hair salon is clean and welcoming. It was really close to home. They took me in considering I booked the day before so I was greatful! The front desk lady was really nice and accommodating. My hairstylist took her time with me. I have thick and curly hair. I will definitely go back and I have already scheduled my appointment with Tati( I hope I spelled her name right) by the way she is a Latina and I truly appreciate it. Zinnia Cintron The stylists at this salon as extremely talented. I took my twin fifteen year old daughters here for a haircut a few months back and they did a phenomenal job on their hair. Weve had horrible experiences elsewhere so they were scared to have anyone touch their hair. Maria was awesome and the hairstylists were engaging with my daughters and made sure they were happy with the final outcome. They were both extremely pleased with their haircuts and thank goodness were all smiles. Its difficult to find a place to cater to my daughters because one has pin straight hair and the other extremely curly hair but we finally found a place that has hairstylists that can cater to both. We definitely will be back!

Delia Frye Maria, her husband Eric, and her amazing hair designer Michelle are unbelievably talented. On Thursday, I finally decided to embrace my gray hair. So, as most of us do, I google hair salon color me crazy hair studio came up. Michelle was very warm and inviting. She offered for me to come in for a consultation. The consultation was detailed and thorough. They listen to my concerns and my desires, and if I must say they made my dreams come true. It sounds like a fairytale, but for me, it is. Im sure weve all had nightmares at hair salons where the stylist does what they want, and they dont really hear what you want. Michelles skills and expertise color matching my gray hair was so on point. Look at me, I look gorgeous. I have had so many compliments. Ive even been told I look younger with my gray hair. Okay, enough about me. The environment at color me crazy hair studio was warm and inviting. I felt like I was hanging out with friends that Ive known for such a long time. I will know these people for so long into the future because of how well they run their business and how they treated me as their new customer and now friend. I strongly suggest your next haircut, hair color, or spa service is done at Color Me Crazy Hair Studio.

Secor Daniel “Boone” In an area where barbers are a dime a dozen and you can find them all over, Alex stand out above all the rest by leaps and bounds. Never once have I sat in his chair and left unhappy. From sitting down in the chair, discussing with an expert what we should do with my hair, to the conversation and consideration, getting your hair cut by Alex is an experiment on all levels. He takes in to account your hair length, texture, head shape, recent trends, and frequency of visits and leaves you with a cut and style that both meets the requirements and sets your hair up for growth so your hair doesn’t look bad after a couple weeks. A true master at his craft, I would recommend Alex to anyone without question or regret. If you’re looking for a true barber experience with salon flair, Alex is your man.

Brendan Sullivan On the outside Mane & Clover looks like a womens salon (which it is) but in addition to that, Courtney and her colleagues provide excellent mens barber cuts. I lived in the apartment above Courtneys shop for 1 year and every cut I got that year was from Courtney. I was always very satisfied and appreciated Courtneys styling advice and brainstorming. As additional bonuses, the salon is a wonderful place to hang out, chat, snooze on a couch in the sun, etc–and Courtney is an excellent conversationalist if chatting during cuts is your jam. I highly recommend.

Victoria Torres Out of all the hair stylists I have seen, Courtney is the most thorough and informative stylist I have ever seen! She makes sure that I understand what she’s doing and how to maintain my cut and hair color! Not only is the work she does amazing but she insures that I am comfortable and have the best experience every time. As a mom of 2 and a full time worker she knows I need time for myself and that I need relaxing time and I get that every time with her. 10/10 every time!

I trust her with what should be done to keep my hair at its healthiest. I have also had the pleasure of seeing Savanna who I would recommend for keratin treatments for the spring and summer humidity. Both of these artist are kind, caring and truly make you feel like your a friend.

Wendy Hof I have been looking for a hair stylist since I moved back to New york. I am so happy to feel that I have found one. The receptionist was so accommodating finding me an available appointment. The Stylist who cut my hair listened carefully to what I wanted and then shared what she thought would work. I am very happy with the haircut and Im definitely going back again. Highly recommend this place. Looking around at others getting their haircut and all you could see was wonderful stylists listening to their clients and clients leaving happy and looking gorgeous in their fresh cuts and styles.

William Swift This is the most trans friendly hair location in dutchess county, and it is also the friendliest. You will talk at Gilmore Girls speed about anything at all, the staff are truly interested. I was 100% comfortable there and knew that although it was a salon, I could explain that I wanted something masculine and have it done. Registered on strands for trans as well!

Ashley Leonard I have lived all over the country and have had my hair cut by many stylists. Kourtney is awesome! It’s great to find someone who genuinely knows what they’re doing and you can trust. I get to relax and take a chill pill and let her do what she does best. I always leave happy and get tons of compliments on my hair. Oh, and I have moved away from Poughkeepsie and still make the two hour roundtrip back to her. Time is valuable- so that says everything!

Jennifer Frisenda Kara is simply amazing. I went to her for about two years for my undercut and design. She was always quick and precise with her work. I would show her a picture of what I wanted and boom, she nailed it (Andy Bernard’s voice, please) every time. I highly recommend her. I decided to grow out my hair, so I unfortunately don’t see her anymore. But she was always fun to chat with and her work is amazing.

Robert Treto Ive been coming to Kara at The Hair Saloon for 2 years now and I will never go anywhere else. Shes fun but professional and extremely talented. She makes you feel like youre her best friend and best customer no matter what service shes providing. Love this place!!!

Chris Hudak I have been going to Kara for about 2 years now and i have always received a great cut. Even moving after moving to Brooklyn, I still continue to come up to have her do my hair. She is consistent, listens to what you want and provides insight on new things to try. Aside from the compliments I normally receive after my cuts, I went to a barber in Brooklyn when I couldnt make it up to Poughkeepsie - it had been about a month since my last cut and the barber asked who normally does my hair. When I told him where I went he said, "You should definitely keep going to her, for your cut to be a month old and the lines are still this good, she knows what shes doing."

Amanda Novoa I have gotten my hair highlighted off and on for 20 years. The BEST highlight I ever got was with Nebal when I switched to this hair salon. Before, people couldnt even tell I got my hair done. But with Nebal, the highlights stood out and were the exact blonde color I wanted. She took the time after the add some curl to my hair. She also explained the easiest way for me to curl my own hair. The atmosphere is calm yet fun. I highly recommend this salon!

Xinran Li Nebal did an amazing job on my hair!! She is very talented and highly skilled at her job. She is a lovely person to work with, most importantly, she turned my dead hair alive again! If you are looking for a place for coloring around hudson valley area, I highly recommend here. Im so glad I found her :)

Michelle DeKleine Jess was my hair dresser for years, she even did everyone’s hair at my wedding! She was amazing but recently over the last year, her services have gone down hill. Be prepared to be double booked, with her going back and forth between you and someone else. Which ends in you being there for hours. It also made me wonder how professional she is, when talking bad about the client as soon as they leave her door, makes you wonder what is being said about you. Jess is great, if you have the time to wait, deal with the craziness that pops in and out of this shop(all random weirdos), and want to hear all the gossip in town. Also you aren’t allowed to cancel at all! Even if it’s 48-24 hours in advance! I was told I should’ve been charged a cancellation fee, which if was told at the time would have paid. Jess does good hair! Don’t get me wrong! If you have time and enjoy a good real life soap opera, this is the shop for you!

3x _Cam I got my haircut here for the first time and was very nervous since I’ve had so many bad experiences getting my hair done but I am so glad I went here!. I got my haircut by Amanda and she was so patient, she took her time, and kept asking me about the length and if I wanted to go shorter, she was so nice and easy to talk to. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone they can do anyone’s hair and the prices are pretty affordable!
