1 /5 Ezra Nwemeh: This is the first time I’m ever leaving anyone a negative review.
1) I called to schedule an appointment for a cleaning. Before I called, I read so many negative reviews about ASPEN DENTAL but decided to give them the benefit of doubt.
2) When I arrived, they did X-rays and other checks. I asked if I’d be getting the cleaning I came for, and the receptionist said the doctor would decide.
The lights and other equipment weren’t working. They performed the exam without lights.
3) The dental hygienist checked my teeth and said they were fine, my bone structure was good, but I needed a cleaning and should start flossing more regularly.
4) The dentist came in, checked again, and told me I needed to remove my wisdom teeth because my gums were covering them. Then she sent me to the office manager to check out and schedule future visits.
“Wait, what about my cleaning?” The dentist said the office manager would handle everything.
5) The office manager came back from wherever she had gone, didn’t introduce herself, and went straight to telling me that I’d have to pay $1,200 out of pocket for all the work they recommended.
6) I asked, “Why wouldn’t my insurance cover it if it’s necessary?” She said, “That’s just how it is.” Then she mentioned they offer payment plans to break up the cost.
I laughed and said, “I don’t want to pay anything. That’s the whole point.” She then said she could resubmit the request and see if insurance would cover more. I asked if I could call my insurance myself. She printed out the paperwork and handed it to me.
7) I looked at it and said, “But I don’t want any of this work you’ve listed. I came here for a cleaning. How do I get that done?”
At this point, she was visibly annoyed and, with a straight face, told me I’d have to pay 60% of the recommended work before they’d do any cleaning.
I thanked her for her time, took my paperwork, and left.
They need to do better. Your current business model sucks and will only cost you more customers.
