1 /5 Toxic Flame: I have been going to this neurologist for 3 years for complex and aura migraines. I had even had get an EEG done where they found blips in my right frontal lob. Yesterday I needed a doctors note for my job so I went into the practice where I found out all of my diagnoses were wrong. Wrong. The notes from my last visit says that I have migraines without aura, they make no mention of my complex migraines and state I have 2 brothers and 6 sisters which is not correct. The notes also said I was diagnosed with complex migraines at a hospital in Buffalo where I go for college, not correct. I was diagnosed at Vasar 3 years ago. Two years ago I started taking a birth control with estrogen but last year my primary care doctor took me off of it and said I needed to see my neurologist. For context you can’t take birth control with estrogen if you have aura migraines because they can cause mini strokes. So for a year I was taking something that could have caused complications or even be life threatening because Dr. Rose Matthews could not do her job and include the correct diagnosis in my files. My primary care doctor knew I should not have been on it because she has the correct diagnosis in her files. Every appointment with Dr.Rose Matthew consisted of us talking about my symptoms and frequency of these episodes. Why did she not have the correct information on file? Why did I go to these appointment just for everything I told her to be ignored and watered down? My last appointment with Dr.Matthew was about the birth control. She had said that if I have aura migraines then I should be put on progesterone only pills. So she did acknowledge that I have aura migraines, why does it say that I have migraines without aura in my files? The woman at the front desk asked my mother on the phone, she said “Why did you guys not notice this before?” Dr. Matthews was not giving me my visit notes so how would I have known? Even if she had been giving me these notes, does that negate that fact that this woman has not been correctly filing the appointment notes and/or the proper diagnosis? Is it not her responsibility, as a doctor, to make sure that she is listening to the needs of the patient and correctly diagnosing them? She wasn’t even the one to diagnose me with these conditions so does that mean to ignore their existence? This whole situation is ridiculous. If you can’t handle the responsibility of being a doctor then you shouldn’t be one.

2 /5 Mike Wold: Dr Koszer seems to be excellent. BUT the office staff is condescending, rude, and incompetent. They are a thorough road block to reaching the provider. My wife’s test results have been available since Monday, and yet no call from the doctor for treatment. She has left 4 messages on their voicemail and still hasn’t received any response from the office. This is delay of treatment. We would NOT recommend this practice to anyone. .

1 /5 Akil B: The doctors are extremely good doctors. The receptionists are horrible. The people who answer the phone to make or change appointments horrible. Dont bother making appointments its first come first serve in there. You can have a 9:00am appointment get there at 9:01 and somehow the 9:30 appointment goes before me. Unbelievably unprofessional.

1 /5 John Lombardi III: Left after they were obviously wasting my time. This being told to me by a nurse speaking down to me and waving her hands in my face as I was seated. It’s impossible to see the doctor because there is apparently 1 doctor for 3 locations. I’d definitely go somewhere else.

1 /5 Trebor Arutnev: I saw Dr McNulty in May. Although he was clearly EXTREMELY unhealthy looking himself, as well as smelling like cigarettes, he said he would help me with my pain. He promised that he would not let me continue to suffer. And together wed find a course of treatment and treat my problems after the tests ordered were completed. I did my blood test in May and my EMG upper and lower over the next month. My follow up came in August, so three months five visits, five co-pays. Multiple blood tests and an upper and lower EMG. Firstly, why have a portal if nothing is ever there? Nothing but co-pay info. No one fills it out and anything typed from your visit goes elsewhere, not here at helo. Its a waste of space on my phone. Finally in August, for my follow-up, I saw the doctor. He didnt remember me but spent five minutes refreshing himself. Then he said that I have all the things wrong that he suspected five things in fact. And he now could see the big picture of what is going on with me. Ok great, I said, how can you help me? Whats my course of treatment doctor? How are you going to help me with this pain doctor? Its sometimes so overbearing and overwhelming. DOCTORS Recommendation 1 - See my general doctor. 2 - See a hand doctor. 3 - See a back doctor. 4 - Go to the drug store and get hand braces. Wait, what? Why did I come to you Dr McNulty? His answer was, "I am 62 years old and a brain surgeon." I asked how that would help "ME". He said he didnt think it would and he got very defensive from my questioning him. He even told me he didnt like being questioned. My response was that I needed answers and that I was in a lot of pain, do you have anything here physical therapy? Should I take more Tylenol? I was looking for treatment, anything from him. What kind of braces should I get, will he give me a prescription. Nope, I dont do that and was directed to ask the pharmacist. Why have I come to you for three months then? Where is the help you told me about ? All of the tests you asked me to take I took and have issues. He started breathing heavy, he was sweating Im not sure if that was because of his morbid obesity or his chain smoking cigarettes but I was worried for him. Then he told me I was not welcome to come back to eRiver. I asked why he again repeated that he was 62 years old and a brain surgeon. I said no, why are you refusing to treat me and banning me from your practice? His answer was, "I DONT LIKE TO BE QUESTIONED." I my opinion this doctor needs some medical attention himself. He is clearly unhealthy himself and doesnt take care of himself and that clearly shows in his demeanor and his extremely lazy medical work. I went to my appointments, took my tests, paid my co-pays but apparently because my brain was intact I didnt deserve his time, empathy or treatment. The front staff and ancillary treatment was more than adequate. But I can not recommend this doctor or their medical portal for anything. Because neither have provided me with anything close to adequate or care at any level. Please do yourself a favor and SKIP this unhealthy, rude, pompous doctor and take the drive South for someone that provides care, empathy and treatment.

Everyone from the front desk staff, to the nurses are beyond kind, helpful & welcoming. Today I had to bring my 4.5 year old in and I was just so impressed with how they handled her situation and their patience and bedside manner. The nurse whose name began with an N I wish I could remember it was so sweet, and Samantha too. I’m grateful we have them in our town! Every single doctor has been so helpful,, knowledgeable and thorough! Thank you!

J Oli: The facilities are extremely maintained and cleaned, the staff are professional and courteous. But the non sense Bureaucracy still remains with the VA, the primary Doctors and specialists here are pretty much useless to the VET’s health. I’ve tried with them but I have to rely on my civilian insurance/doctors for my proper care. Maybe one day the VA will care for their VETS. Here they don’t. Departments like radiology poorly managed and will just had stress neglecting patient care. Receptionist Carol Clegg rude and disgruntled employee, another reason what’s wrong with the VA. Mental Health does the opposite at this hospital. Nurses incompetent.

Jessie Dadds: Ive been here before, every time I feel like a McDonalds burger. Quickly processed and spit out. Jason Asselin was my doctor this time.... It was like he was afraid the chair would get warm if he bothered to stop and actually listen or answer questions. And to get a simple form filled out for the visit (14 boxes, most of which would be one word answers) I have to submit it up front, they send it to medical records, who is back logged at least 2 weeks.... This was a work comp simple form thats supposed to be done at every visit.... But hes too busy. If they are forcing all there physicians to work at such a frantic pace that completing that form turns into a 3 week process, Im sure they are rushing too much to be making good diagnosis, or explaining things to there patients. And the overall mannerisms just display abysmal bedside manner. Im sorry hes so disgruntled with his chosen profession, and Im sure now feels too invested to go do something hes more suited for. Next time Ill just take the hour each way ride to CT. The front desk lady was pleasant and efficient. And the older women in checkout did what she could as far as explaining things to me and trying to get my paperwork filled out. I forgot her name, but thank you for your superb assistance.

Cathleen Maass: I just had cervical Spine fusion done on my C4-5, 5-6. From the minute I got there i was impressed with their hygiene protocols, making every effort to ensure that the site was clean by washing the site no less than 3 times from when I arrived up until I was wheeled into the OR. Every step of what was going to occur was thoroughly explained to myself and my husband and we were both given opportunity to ask any questions we may have had. I was reassured that my surgeon was highly qualified and experienced and was told by more than one nurse that they would let him work on their own family. I was in the holding area and next thing I knew I was waking up in my room. I was covered with warm blankets and had my family right there with me. I was told that I could order anything I wanted from the menu to be brought up, the service ran from 7am through 7pm. I was hungry but had my fair share of reluctance since I had not had any good experiences with hospital food in the past. I was very pleasantly surprised with the food at Mercy however. Not only is there a wide variety, but everything I tried, I enjoyed. Every nurse and doctor that took care of me was courteous, friendly and helpful. I was there for 2 nights, and never felt like I was an inconvenience when I would push the nurse button. I was frequently checked on, and brought water and ice as well as blankets and extra pillows. When it was time for me to be discharged, it was done quickly and efficiently. I wasnt kept waiting for hours for paperwork or for a doctor to sign off on the release. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about Mercy Hospital and if I should ever need to have surgery again, I would gladly go back there, and will recommend them to others as well.

Tyler Bluder: Not sure why all the negative comments/1 stars, but our experience was exceptional. I’d give 10 stars if I could. My son was brought in on a referral from another hospital without a pediatric surgeon at 4am for an emergency appendectomy. We had a room right away in triage and then to the family room shortly after. He was squeezed into an early surgery and out by 9am. Everyone from the nurses, RNs, Doctors, and even the housekeepers were amazing. We were extremely skeptical from reading the reviews before we arrived, but our experience was amazing. Our room even had two pull-out beds and a bathroom with a shower that we could use (much needed after being up for over 28 hours at that point). Just bummed we missed Josh Allen visiting by about 12 hours. If you’re coming here for emergency surgery, rest assured your experience will be nothing short of amazing. Huge thank you to all the staff for going out of their way to support us!! Last note is the food. “Room service” for the patient is ACTUAL FOOD and not the typical hospital food. For the parents/guardians, there is a deli on the second floor that was great and across the street in Buffalo general (I think that’s what it’s called) is a Tim Hortons. It’s just a short two minute walk away and on the second floor also.

Joker 66: I was in this emergency room for a case of sciatica, it was the worst pain that I had ever experienced so I was a bit agitated already. I could see the medical staff in the emergency room from my cell door and it seemed that they were all just standing around talking. I just stuck my head out and asked for some assistance because I was in so much pain. I apparently made a nurse feel like I was a threat. They sent in a big muscular person in an attempt at an intimidation factor and when he saw that this was not going to work the doctor came in and didnt do the proper testing nor give me the proper medication for my symptoms. I was discharged and not feeling any relief from my symptoms, I crawled out of the hospital on my hands and knees, still not able to walk and layed on the front lawn of the hospital and waited for my ride. I just wanted some medical attention and was treated like an animal who just didnt matter. I have not and will never return to this hospital.

Coll R: Unfortunately the experience there with my mom was awful. I want to clarify that this does not have to do with the hard-working nurses. Its the system that needs a great deal of work. There seems to be a huge lack of communication between, the patient, medical professionals, departments, and scheduling. Three procedures were done and not once did anyone know the time. Staff would come to the room not knowing where the patient was. They should just be able to simply look at a chart or a calendar and see what is going on so precious time is not wasted. I think the long long waits would be tolerated better with some information and simple communication. Nothing seems to be properly documented and she was brought down for something she already had done the day before rather than the procedure she was supposed to have, and two other times they had the wrong site noted to do the procedures. Nothing was communicated to the patient and nothing is done over the weekend and definitely not over the holiday. To be admitted for four days and not have any straight answers is more than frustrating. There was an enormous amount of waste, rather than doing a procedure precious amounts of blood were given instead. With the resources that the hospital has, it shouldnt take so long to have anything done and get the results and communicate them to the patient. This hospital needs help with their processes to run leaner and smoother in my opinion.
