caryn davis: Excellent 13 hour ER experience with nurses, doctors and other staff yesterday. Nothing is perfect anywhere. And, I showed my appreciation to each person I encountered to help make their day go better, too. I also politely and kindly asked for what I needed. And, even sometimes waiting longer than I liked, I did get everything I asked for. My nurse, Martina, is an angel. I was in good hands.

Katherine Scott: Probably one of the worst family member experiences Ive had. My mother is a patient here (im her proxy) I called her unit. Operator had an attitude and stated "I need to spell her name" I spelt is slowly and calmly 3x times. She blind transferred me, I called back and she said she couldnt find that person. Then she quickly said her room number and transferred me to the operator. She did not tell me what building or unit or anything. Then the next operator told me she was moved to a cancer unit (frantic because I never got a call she was getting transferred) I asked for the nursing unit number and he refused to give it to me. He transferred me to a nurse who then starting rambling off patient information about ANOTHER PATIENT. I had to interject and thats when she mentioned the unit isnt just oncology, its med surge as well. So you can imagine the fear when I called and heard that from the operator right???? then I started asking the nurse questions about why she was transferred, how is she doing etc she responded "I dont know any of those things" so then I responded... "can you look it up?" and she said "yeah umm give me a second" ... I patiently waited and it turned out she was fine. Nothing was communicated to me that she was bring moved, or why she was getting transferred. No transparency, no professionalism. The previous unit she was on THE CHARGE NURSE started reading me another patient information and then decided halfway through to verify name and DOB AGAIN (I guess she didnt hear me the first time?) Not to mention when her sister went to visit her they had her food tray so far towards the window it was not in reach, so by the time my aunt got there she had her lunch and dinner tray sitting there. You would THINK between the person dropping off the tray, the nurse, PCA/CNA SOMEONE would have noticed she ate nothing???? but instead just put a dinner tray next to an old lunch tray and not take the old one away. I cant wait to get her out of this hospital, if you are looking for compassion, communication or quality care.. its not here.

Dr T: My name is Dr. T, and I recently had a distressing experience at Richmond Hospitals emergency room with my newborn. Despite being admitted, we were placed in a room outside the hallway, directly in front of the bathroom, where numerous patients walked by, coughing and sneezing. I repeatedly requested a room change from various nurses, but they claimed everyone was in critical condition, and it wasnt possible. When the Physician Assistant (PA) examined my baby, she seemed uninterested and dismissive. I had to ask her to perform basic checks and even request an ice pack, as no one offered assistance. When I inquired about a CT scan, she initially said it wasnt necessary, despite that being the primary reason for our visit. When I asked what she could do for my baby, she replied, Nothing. As I prepared to leave, the PA asked if I wanted a discharge. I requested time to consult with my husband , but when she returned 15-20 minutes later, she refused to let us go. She claimed it was because the room behind us wasnt ready, despite the previous patient having just left and the bed being quickly changed without proper sanitization. When I asked her to sanitize the room, she bluntly said, No, this is emergency room and it is the best we can do. I was scared for not fully vaccinated newborn baby, so I took him home and I watch out for my baby myself. Mom should never go through this. They saw a black woman distressed with her newborn baby I am sure that was their negligence and being racist towards me. I advise everyone to go to the other hospital nearby. My bed image is attached

Mari Del: I rushed myself to the ER on August 5th, a day before my birthday due to lower abdominal pains. The staff, nurses and doctors were very kind, warm and hospitable. They attended as soon as they can. I am so glad that i went here and not the other hospital in the island. Good job to you guys! To the SIUH Staff that night, Nurse Ryan, Michael and everyone else. Sorry if i cant remember everyone. But you guys did the best job!

Mary Bratti: BEWARE OF SIUH SOUTH!!!!!!!!!!I’ve never once complained on Facebook or online about any business or anything… But I was just released from SIUH SOUTH and let me tell you…. The worst experience of my life. I was in for diverticulitis which is extremely painful. I was admitted for strong IV antibiotics. 2 out of 4 nurses I had were miserable horrible people who shouldn’t even work with animals. I felt like I was there to be experimented on!!! I was literally on the floor in the bathroom in extreme pain and pulls the nurse button and was kicking in the door while the nurse is in the room with the other patient explaining how to use the TV and told me to wait!!!!!!!!!!

Mary Salvatore: E R reception desk- rude and careless people to service you. I was told to wait to see a patient for 20 minutes, before they even would check you in. Everyone is to busy, b s in. As for as the inside staff nurses were very helpful.
