Ive got entire body+facial massage for 90 mins and the experience was fantastic. I was sleeping like a baby while getting treatment. It just felt heavenly. Definitely will come back for more when I need a treat for myself. Thank you so so much, Akiko!!!

I’ve had my hair worked on by a few of the stylists here including Chika and Yu and loved the results. I truly can’t recommend everyone here enough!

1 /5 Eve RS: I never leave reviews like this, but Ive had a very upsetting experience with Salon 87s staff and cancellation fee policy. I had to cancel a couple of hours into the 24-hour cancellation window due to a legitimate family emergency but they would not budge on the $130 cancellation fee. Visiting the salon has always been a special experience that I very carefully budget for amidst other financial priorities and I was hoping to even just reschedule, but they said the fee would still apply, making it financially impossible for me to reschedule anyways. It’s incredibly disheartening that loyal customers history and circumstances arent taken into account, especially when emergencies happen outside of our control. I understand that policies are in place for a reason, but I had hoped for a more felxible or human approach, particularly in regards to a sum of money as large as this, and from an independent business, when it was so very close to being within the acceptable cancellation window.

5 /5 Eleanor C: Aya is an amazing hairdresser. Every now and then I get bangs and layers too my hair but usually I have to grow it out after the salon. Aya cut it so that I’m happy with it the day of + this is the best cut I’ve had in NYC! Excited to come back.

From booking appointments with Jimmy to any possible rescheduling, to the hair services and the stylists Hair &co is topnotch and always the most pleasant experience. Jimmy is an expert and makes everything very easy for the client. My 7 yr old is a fan of Mindy who makes sure every strand for her customer is painstakingly perfect, from the hairwash to the haircuts esp the perfection blowouts after; she enjoys the process thoroughly. I got a blowout from Kathy which was phenomenal as that woman’s sense of humour! My partner had to take me to dinner after -was that good that blowout! I will highly recommend! At every step Jimmy and the whole staff makes sure you are comfortable and at ease. Will absolutely recommend!

Sharia Franklin: The salon was nice, well equipped & the workers were nice however, I think its very ghetto that I had to stand in line for a shampoo. I also think its super ridiculous that they charged me $45 for a simple wash & set. I came all the way from S.I to try a new experience but NEVER again cause I couldve stayed where I was & paid $25. My hair is not rough or that long.

The salon is always clean and the other staff are incredibly nice and hospitable. Wonderful salon! Chad KILLS the hair game from color to cuts, long or short you can trust him to give you a haircut that will leave you feeling like your best self. Highly suggest stopping in at Salon Dumbo and asking for Chad!

Kali T: I came to this salon back in October 2023 for highlights and styling. They advertise themselves as being inclusive of all hair types and textures, but as someone with 4B-4C hair, my experience really didnt reflect that. The highlight service with Ari went well. However, the styling portion of my appointment, which was pre-booked, was handled differently than expected. Without explanation, I was transferred to another stylist who appeared unfamiliar with my hair texture. They applied a strengthening treatment for an additional $45 that left my hair feeling dry. When I inquired about the styling that I had booked after the poor result from the second stylist, I was passed to a third stylist. Throughout this process, there was minimal communication about these changes. The payment situation was a mess too. After paying about $500 (with tip), they told me the payment didnt go through and asked me to pay again. I found out later they were having issues with their payment system and this had happened before - but nobody told me that at the time. Being non-confrontational, I agreed to the second charge, but ended up leaving the salon with a double charge of over $1000 on my card. While they did eventually fix the payment issue, I walked out with no clear idea of when Id get my money back, and poorly styled hair. While the highlight service itself was okay, the lack of communication, stylist swaps, and payment problems made this a really disappointing experience.
