Kalei Taylor I got my hair done early February 1 and my hair started to fall out immediately after my appointment. When chatting over the phone with the rep, I negoiated a price because I purchased human hair that I was bringing in myself. I sent photos of what I wanted (Gypsy Knotless) and they said that it would be $300 once I got into the space. Once I got in the chair my hairstylist was 30 minutes late to the appointment and she told me that what I confirmed over the phone was incorrect and my new price would be $365. I was already in the chair and waiting, so I just accepted the new price. My stylist was very nice, but I did have questions about how big the pieces should be and she didnt want to go bigger. The stylist never mentioned not washing my hair and the gel was caked on and my head was starting to itch badly so I washed it. Majority of my hair fell out. When I asked the stylist if she would be willing to do a partial refund or fix the issue. She told me it was because of my hair texture that it fell out. I have 3b/3c hair. I have never had an issue with hair falling out like this. I was sad that they could not resolve the issue. Aside from it falling out the roots also look so sad. They are billowing out and not laying to my head, so overall this was a poor job of braiding. I unfortunately will never go back and I hope the 3B/3C community sees this so that they know, that their texture cannot be executed in to braids by their stylists. Im going to try and salvage as much hair as possible so its not a complete waste of money. But its unfortunate that they were not willing to resolve this issue.

Ferrick Moore I can’t thank K enough for the amazing job she did on my hair! I came in needing a big change, I was absolutely stressed and needed the hair GONE! She listened to exactly what I wanted and made it happen – even though she’s not technically a barber shop. My hair was even on all sides and clean. She was so welcoming, patient, and went above and beyond to make sure I walked out happy. Beyond being a pro at what she does, her kind heart really shines through. I’m so grateful for her and will absolutely be recommending her to all my friends!

Faith I got my hair done here, French curl braids by K and I had a great experience! I walked in, and she got started right away. The service was efficient, and the price was very reasonable. The atmosphere was clean, welcoming, and filled with lovely people. Definitely a place I’d recommend for anyone looking to get their hair done!

R Yamamoto Akiko is amazing!! Her Ayurvedic oil massage is everything. She is so talented and sweet, her warm smile made me feel welcomed to the space. Ive got entire body+facial massage for 90 mins and the experience was fantastic. I was sleeping like a baby while getting treatment. It just felt heavenly. Amanda R I’ve been coming here for over 20 years. I went to Lopez beauty salon in April 2024 for a color on the front half of my head and a blow out on my natural hair. My hair is bra strap length. Ana completed the color and blow dry. After washing my hair chunks of hair comes out everytime. My natural hair is now stringy and I’ve collected a zip lock bag full of hair that has shed from my recent wash today. I have NOT straightened my hair since April because of the severe damage this salon has caused me. I will now have to cut my hair off and start fresh for naturally healthy hair again. I’ve very sadden by this experience and I believe a texturizer was put into my hair without my knowledge.

Seychelles Jalloh Sadly this will be my last visit. The salon is clean and organized but the attitude of the stylists is beyond me. I informed Ana that I wanted a wash and set, the lady proceeds to want to blow my hair and when i asked if she understood in Spanish she said yes. Another lady jumps in the conversation and Im telling her what I want but she insisted on over talking me and instructs the lady wrong. Im telling the lady who insisted on helping that the products she is instructing the lady to use is not what I want in my hair. So now both ladies have an attitude because I wont let them do what they want to my hair?!?! Make this make sense. Ana seems more concerned about being on her phone than actually doing hair. After she is done rolling my hair, i ask if she can cover my ears, she catches another attitude and tells me i dont need it because of the dryer Im sitting under! Now the dryer is on last two minutes and she is pulling rollers out and i had to tell her my hair is still damp, she tells me i cut the dryer off and i informed her it was the last two minutes and getting cold, again more concerned about getting back to her phone. She was very disconnected and I had to request twice to go under another dryer. The owner needs to train her staff on how to communicate with people and learn to listen to what the clients want! I appreciate a stylist expertise, but laziness has no place for a true beautician. I will go back to traveling out to ENY - where they actually listen to what the customer wants. When the owner is in the building, everyone is on their best behavior but when she is not present these ladies body language and attitude is enough to make you walk out and not look back. Then they sit around and talk about you in spanish, some people do actually understand the language. If the african american community pulled their business - Lopez would be out of business! As you can see she didnt even realize that I snapped the picture

Candy See I’ve been coming to Lopez Beauty Salon for a wash and set for quite sometime now. Today I came in to inquire how to color my hair red with out using bleach but I was informed that using the bleach would be necessary because my hair is the color black when the dye goes on my hair the red color won’t be so bright. My hair was done by manager Roma she gave me the color book so I could choose the red color I wanted did a bleach test on my hair first to see if my hair can handle the bleach it was fine. After that she started the process she bleached my hair washed the bleach out and dyed hair red. I was put under the dryer for a deep conditioning and rinse out once that was done. I went to Janet she blowed dried and styled my hair. Special Thank you to Roma and Lopez team for there patience with me I was so nervous I didn’t think my hair was going to come out so great! Roma is amazing and knowledgeable she gets the job done you won’t be disappointed leaving her salon . I am truly satisfied with the results of my hair.

Phoebe Alman Been going to this salon for a couple years I will never go anywhere else!! I had tried so many other stylists but they never seemed to execute the vision I had in mind. But Crissel always manages to give me exactly what I want and I’m always blown away by the results! Jake Gamboa My friend (Evan S.) constantly has great hair and hair coloring and I had to ask where and who does the work. Three haircuts later with his barber/hairstylist Alan, all I can say it is well worth the trip from my home in Queens all the way to Park Slope. I feel taken cared and listened to in a way that makes you feel good, look good, and look forward to your next haircut. M K I’ve been going to Slope Suds for 10 years, and they are my go-to spot! Their service and products are the best. My favorite person is Alan—he’s a close friend and knows exactly how I like my hair done. He always does an amazing job!

Shiza Rizwan We are regulars from over a yr now. From booking appointments with Jimmy to any possible rescheduling, to the hair services and the stylists Hair &co is topnotch and always the most pleasant experience. Jimmy is an expert and makes everything very easy for the client. My 7 yr old is a fan of Mindy who makes sure every strand for her customer is painstakingly perfect, from the hairwash to the haircuts esp the perfection blowouts after; she enjoys the process thoroughly. I got a blowout from Kathy which was phenomenal as that woman’s sense of humour! My partner had to take me to dinner after -was that good that blowout! I will highly recommend! At every step Jimmy and the whole staff makes sure you are comfortable and at ease. Will absolutely recommend!

courtney lawrence This is a long overdue review. I just moved to the city full time and had been looking for a place to redo my keratin treatment. Saw great reviews about this place and it did not disappoint. Angela was inspecting my hair type and gave her recommendation of doing the protein based treatment over the keratin. However, I was a little concerned as I had never done this before but then she allowed me the time to do research and think about the differences and did not pressure me to choose her recommendation. Additionally, Esther who is a part of her team also inspected my hair for a second opinion and had done both the keratin and protein treatments on her hair which gave me comfort if I decided to ever switch back to keratin treatments. All in all I decided to go with the protein treatment and I do not regret it. My hair was been so much easier to blow dry and maintain. I was also not pressured to buy any products from them but was given samples in the event I wanted to. Getting hair treatments like this in NY is definitely pricey but I will 100% be going back to get my hair done hair as the experience and quality were superb.

Astri Kingstone I have been coming here since they opened over 15 years ago. All the stylists are great but I have mainly seen Angela over the years. I went in originally for keratin treatments and they were amazing. Angela turned my frizzy untamed hair into a soft, relaxed, easy to manage do. In between treatments I just brushed it or pulled it through a flat iron and it was pristine and I loved it! I recently decided to return to my curly waves and Angela easily pivoted and knows how to let my natural thickness work beautifully through layering and thinning it out. I’m really happy with it. Angela spends a lot of time talking to you about what you like and coming up with creative and helpful suggestions. This salon is more affordable than many and the people are welcoming and talented.

It was 100% amazing- barely had to explain my stressed self, and she trimmed my hair in a fresh and gorgeous spring cut! I later brought in my daughter who is sensory sensitive, and once again Sarah made her first big girl cut amazing. Absolutely was a hit with my kid, and her hair looks AMAZING!! 100% my new go to place for cuts for myself and my kid, and probably the rest of my family!

Michelle Forbes Catherine is an amazing beautician!! My hair had fell out due to Covid and I started going to her. Since then my hair has grown back and my hair is so healthy now. She uses excellent products, and she’s also an expertise in hair coloring. And for people that may think micro links makes your hair fall out, it does not. I wore it when my hair was short until it grew back to its normal length and now thanks to Catherine I no longer need them.

Jayme Wheeler I love coming to beauty options salon & spa for my manicures& pedicures! I’ve been with the nail artist Olga, for almost 3 years now. Not only myself, but the women in my family plus a few of my friends come here as well. I never have to worry if I will like my gel manicure. My nails are perfect everytime and lasts me up to 6 weeks. I even moved to Jersey and still commute into Brooklyn just for my nails because I love them so much. Everyone is professional and goes above and beyond for you to make you feel the most comfortable. The salon is spotlessly clean. Highly recommend! I will be a customer for life!

Raynelle I visited Classic salon to get a silk press from Azure. The experience was great! The salon is clean and beautiful! It was quiet and fast service. Azure is very friendly and my silk press came out very nice and silky. I will be returning. Nice to have a black owned salon in the neighborhood that does great hair.

Effie Edusei I was always happy with Classic Beauty and used to do my sew-ins there but my experience with them lately has been rather disappointing. The last two sew-ins Ive done with them started coming out after a week. The first time, the owner Kadeisha let me come in and the stylist Tashaunda fixed it back up. The second time which happened recently was with Azzy and was much worse. The whole front left started coming out after a week. I was on a work trip and called them when I returned to find out when I could come in to have Azzy sew it back up. In this instance, they wanted to charge me to fix the part coming out which is absurd. How do you charge a customer for a service you have failed to complete properly? This is not the salon for sew-ins and customer service is also clearly deteriorating. I gave them the benefit of the doubt the first time but two in a row when Ive had a sew in done else where in between which I didnt have a single problem with shows there is something broken with their method or training. Sew ins should not be coming out with all the threads hanging out after 1-2 weeks and a good sew in should be able to last 6-8 weeks. Its disheartening to pay over $300 for a service and to be treated this way. Further to this, I arrived on a time and even though Azzy was available, she decided to finish blow drying HER own hair before she attended to me while I sat there waiting for her to finish providing a service to herself on my time. Classic has lost a customer for good and also a high referrer to their business.
