  • Mural Square South - Poughkeepsie
Anne Hathaway did not spit in my food.: This fine, free, & walkable repository of local mural art features works by Nestor Madalengoitia, Franc Palaia, and many others.
    Mid-Hudson Bridge - Poughkeepsie
    Mid-Hudson Bridge
dugroz: A perfectly cromulent bridge. It got me across the river, which is what I was looking for. 5/5, would recommend.
Hudson Bridge Walking Elevator - Poughkeepsie
    Hudson Bridge Walking Elevator
Liliana Judge: We used the Hudson Bridge Walking Elevator on Saturday around 10 am to go down, and there was an attendant inside managing it. However, when we tried to return up at 10:30 am, the elevator wasn’t working. We waited for 30 minutes and tried everything - called the posted phone number (mailbox was full), waved my hat to get the attention of staff, all to no avail. Fortunately, a maintenance person came by and was able to fix the elevator for one ride only, which allowed us to get back up. They continued working on repairs for the rest of the day. The staff was helpful once they arrived, but it would be extremely beneficial to have an electronic sign that updates visitors on the elevator’s status (open, closed, or under maintenance). Overall, the elevator is a convenient service when operational, and the maintenance team was responsive once on site.
    Heritage Mural - Poughkeepsie
Anne Hathaway did not spit in my food.: This building is now a construction site, so I hope this mural is kept up. Though not Black myself, I hope that many such people (& others) can be inspired by such beautiful artwork.
Quiet Cove Riverfront Park - Poughkeepsie
    Quiet Cove Riverfront Park
Ed Tubridy: I was in town for a quick visit and I wanted to see the Hudson River up close. This is a great place to do it. It’s dog friendly and I met some local people just hanging out and they told me it used to be an insane asylum. The most excellent experience.
    Cryptic Mural Gallery - Poughkeepsie
Anne Hathaway did not spit in my food.: The Cryptic Murals have been a local treasure since at least the early 2010s. Cryptic Art Gallery closed a little while ago, but art events are still hosted at the nearby affiliated Reason & Ruckus lounge.
    O+ Mural - Poughkeepsie
Anne Hathaway did not spit in my food.: This mural celebrates the Mexican and Black cultures of many Poughkeepsie residents. Serendipitously, many of these murals were commissioned in 2018, shortly after I got back from visiting Los Angeles, California, the American capital of street art that isnt considered graffiti. As far as coincidences go, I think thats pretty cool!
    Nelson House Park - Poughkeepsie
Anne Hathaway did not spit in my food.: I rather enjoy this pocket park, especially if & when I have pizza or a sandwich from nearby. I just wish this park extended into the "gravel pit" next door.
    Middle Main Mural - Poughkeepsie
Gabe F: Happened to walk this way and came across it. Its beautiful and I hope its preserved.
    Queen City Mural - Poughkeepsie
Anne Hathaway did not spit in my food.: Though Im not a born Poughkeepsiean, a few years ago I predicted its old nickname "Queen City" would make a comeback. No disrespect to private companies who use that term, but this piece of public art pretty much makes it more "official!"
