5 /5 Hypnosis And Magic: It was an Incredible Experience For one overly Scared Patient who had tried in earnest to avoid surgery, I wish I had scheduled surgery before attempting the slow, arduous months of physical therapy, hoping that the severe fall on the ice I had, onto concrete edging along the road I live on, while putting out the garbage one wintry night, would someone miraculously heal itself.
From checking in at the front desk at the Surgery Center at 6:30 AM, to the 2 wonderfully kind, assisting nurses and the helper assistant, and of course, my surgeon, Dr. Michael Schweppe, everyone was extremely caring, comforting and they listened to me (a rare trait in many of the medical facilities Ive been in) to reassure me that the facility and the doctor had a extremely high rate of success in the procedures I had come in for.
I had a 6:30 AM check-in. The arthroscopic imaging revealed that I needed 2 repairs because of my fall, one was a subacromial Decompression and an Arthroscopy Debridement and NOT the bicep tendonitis repair (of which I feared, because it would have a long recovery time). The doctor and anesthesiologist were talking at the foot of my bed when the anesthesia kicked in, and 2 hours later, in what seemed like seconds, it was over. My doctor was at the foot of the bed giving me the good news.
Not only the facility, but Dr. Schweppe, called me the next day to answer any questions I had about the operation and to go over again the discharge instructions and follow up.
Having had a negative impression of most facilities and hospitals Ive been in, I was amazed at the efficiency and professionalism of The Surgery Center (they dont make you feel like a piece of meat with a social security number) .... I wish I could thank them all, but Im hoping this surgery is a once in a lifetime experience and I remain healthy until St. Peter blows his horn.
