Beata Verkhavets I went to this nail salon for several months, and received several hard gel manicures with designs before deciding that I needed to switch to another salon. Because I have some experience with the salon, this review is going to be extensive & detailed, but hopefully itll help some of you make a decision.
DISCLAIMER: I do not intend to slander Blossom Nails; I am simply giving my honest opinion and retelling my own experience over several months of receiving services from them.
Why did I give this salon 1 star? Because, while there were a small number of positives, the hazardous negatives heavily outweighed them.
Let me start with the positives: the services are quick, everyone is nice, less expensive for intricate nail art, and you can get some pretty nice designs here (coming from someone who loves Pinterest-style designs). On top of that, the retention was good, and I was able to go 4 weeks before a fill. Thats about it for me.
Now the negatives:
1. One of the biggest reasons I had to look for a different salon - I saw absolutely nothing being sanitized here. The tools did not come out of a proper autoclave pouch, indicating they were not sanitized. They were all dusty, taken out of a little cup next to the technician. I was cut several times with unsanitized cuticle nippers, and the cut was not even disinfected. The cuticle nippers were simply wiped with alcohol and we moved on. This is extremely unsafe for someone working on delicate skin, not to mention the fact that those cuticle nippers were used on another client after me! Blood is a biohazard, and they need to be PROPERLY sanitized.
2. Sticking with the lack of safety - there were several times that I got gel ON MY SKIN. Additionally, the gel was globbed on quite thick, and I noticed for one manicure, I was able to leave dents in it and move it around!! For those who dont know - uncured gel or skin contact with gel can cause contact dermatitis, which is a severe allergy & if it is to gel, it can cause massive issues in the medical field (issues with dental implants, surgeries, etc.)
3. The sides of my nails were INTENSELY overfiled - my side walls were caved in and significantly thinner than my actual nails width. When my nail grew out, there was a terrible indentation and you could SEE where the filing stopped and the grow-out began. This should never be happening, because this also weakens the natural nail. Ive attached a photo of what Im referring to (this is my own manicure from them!)
4. More minor point that caused issues for me - my manicures were very thick & far from the cuticle, they looked grown out from day 1.
Overall, the lack of safety procedures here far outweighs the pros (for me). I know that the owner is going to respond with the exact same copy-pasted response that they give everyone, but I hope they take the time to read this and at least improve their safety practices - no one should risk the integrity of their nails, skin, or safety for a beauty practice! Please do better.
